One can dream...

Well as I can’t ride atm, I decided to have a bit of a play on Google about a trip I’m thinking of doing. It’s been an idea of mine to get on the bike down to Greece, mixing a bit of biking with a week or so on a beach on a greek island.

Once I’m in Greece I know roughly what to do but had a play around because I’d like to get to Ancona/ Brindisi in 4 days roughly. Ferry to greece will take about a day (depending on port) and would like to spend a good week there before shooting back. Plan is for Day 1 to be long, motorway to get to Baden, then Day 2 can play on B500 and a few other roads heading towards Stelvio for Day 3 then a bit of play around italy before getting to Visso and playing round the national park there on Day 4 and Day 5 making it to Brindisi

Anyway, a very very scetchy starting route is HERE… any tips? Too optimistic? Not enough time biking on smaller roads?

All of this will of course be subject to my arm being fixed and work giving me the time off when I want it… I’d like to do it First three weeks in August but if not, might try and do it in September, although I have heard that Italy in september can be very very rainy.

Most nights will be either hostel or camping somewhere… and hopefully I’ll arrive in Greece with all internal organs

No idea on return route, might see if I go up to northern greece then go through macedonia, croatia etc…

As you cant ride atm would you like me to take your bike out for a bimble

Be a bummer to have a flat battery for your trip

One bike is being serviced, MOTed… the other has no MOT :stuck_out_tongue:

Did you sell your SMC then Terry?

yes mate and I so miss it

Would love to play on the green lanes again… promise I’ll look after it :Whistling:

haha at the moment it’s getting some loving from Adz because it was sat in my garage for months doing nothing and needed a few things done to it… Last time I went out ont it was November and the lanes were proper muddy

I may be selling it, looking at something a bit more offroad focused but will all depend on what my shoulder can and cannot do later on. I’m trying to think what my body would look like if I attempted this trip on the KTM!!! :w00t:

ah Alex, sod the bikes lets piss of down there when I can drive again and just lie on the beech and what the pretty girls go by, sorted . lol

Driving to Greece? Nah that’s torture… This is my goal and my aim for doing all the physio exercises

Alex I prefer Southern Italy in September as it drops to late 20’s, early 30’s, in August hit 42+ which was a touch hot in leathers… Warm air in your face even at 100 mph :D…

However been there in August and it had rained at times… So it’s pot luck I think…

Took us 4 days down and three back on the motorways at 140 odd most of the way… The Autostrada all the way down to past Naples is long, fast and full of sweeping bends through the mountains… Think it’s the A3… Will do it again someday via the costal roads, will take much longer though…
