oil cooler repair

Hi guys,

don’t ask me why but I pierced the oil cooler case with a screwdriver and I lost all the coolant…

a friend of mine, car mechanic, advised me about the liquid aluminium, like jb weld or similar, any of you have successfully used it in the past?

I bought the araldite istant steel, it says resistant up to 70c, I’m scared that part would heat up a lot with the risk of melting, considering that the coolant is flushing it should become extremely hot, maybe…

any suggestions??

when hot, your coolant will be running around 100 or so degrees, at a pressure of 0.9-1.3 bar so i dont think chemical metal is going to fix it.

and no need to ask why you put a screwdriver through it, i assume you mistook it for the oil filter

I know this is my concerne, it says 70 degrees, it’s not enough

My friend used it for the oil case in his car and it worked fine, and he is a mechanic…

I saw that this product JB Weld says resistant up to 300 degrees, i probably take this…

bloody filter!

when you say oil case, do you mean the sump? if so, while it gets hot, the oil in the sump is under no pressure. also, if his car leaks a bit, it wont end in a horrible crash…

yeah I meant the sump, sorry for my english…

I don’t know, i will see if i find the used part and change it directly…
