well…b4 anyone starts,no…i havent slung it down the road…

heres the story…(dream wobble…dream wobble)…

i booked my service in as the other day i almost swallowed my tounge when i saw that ive done over 17,000 miles on the gixxer already…

so i walz in to my dealership with my head hung low and hands in my pockets,playing with the rolled up bit of fluff that had accumulated in the corner in said pocket…anyways,

the mechanic comes to the desk all cheary and asks if he can help me…

‘‘yes’’…i said…’‘how’’ he said…’‘well’’…i said…’‘i think im alittle over by recommended service milage’’…

‘‘ahhh’’…’‘shane…we’ve been expecting you…your the one’’ he chuckled scornfully…

he told me to take a seat and he would take a look at just what needed to be done to the gixxer…

1 hr later(good job i had the psp)…he comes back…

''ok mate,heres the score,its gonna cost about £560.00

and heres what need to be done’’…(****e loads)

‘‘ohh…and we need to keep the bike for a few days…but you can borrow that GS 500’’…

NOOOOOOOOO!!! I WENT WHITE…

theres me in full race leathers…riding home…on a fookin gs 500…

not a good day atall…not impressed …no way…

needless to say…ive got the slingshot back on the road…but…

should i ride the GS and ring its neck?

or enjoy the slingger…

wot cha think peeps…opinions please?

blimey that cost sounds harsh, where did you take it in?

I had a spot of luck today, took the tiger in for mot, it needed wheel bearings, all they charged me was for the bearings, and no labour! bargain!!

valves and everything mate…new chain and sprockets…new pads…K&N filter…new throttle cable…oil…basicly 3 services into one…

bugger…pants…poo…chhhit…

and i bet you flutterd your fluttery bits for that didnt you yer tart…lol

oh gawwd, well she should be running sweet as matey, ive got the dreaded 48k major service coming up in 2000k time, thats gonna be same money.

The tiger is running sweet at the mo, and no i didnt flirt, or batter anything, hehe

i feel your pain buddy…

just shelled 320 notes for my 750 on the same sort of mileage err well 21000) and they didnt offer me a bloody GS to cane…

if you add up the servicing so far you could a bought a new friggin motor…

i do most or the servicing my self but wanted valves cheeked and thought they may as well to the throttle sync while there there…

anyway…

look on the bright side when you get it back it will have the dealer smell and they will have greased all the levers and side stand and it will fell sweet…

and the amount you ride it in the rain i bet you calipers need a strip and clean anywayz

Nothing wrong with the GS500 as a bike. However it would feel a bit clumsy and very underpowered for somebody who is used to riding a gsxr750.

Also, Smiled’s power ranger outfit matches his gsxr but would make him look a right twit on a GS500

I reckon, ride the GS500 for daily grind but the slingshot for fun

shane, looking like a nerd!! never!! haha!! my gixxer is going in for some proper love and attention when we get back from spain!! the poor girl has had a rough couple of months!! probably gonna cost a lot more than 500 notes!!

shane, when you get a courtesy bike your supposed to thrash the arse off it, not ride it nicely and then wait for the gsxr to come back so you can thrash that!! twisted little man!!

3 services into one he said…will get the full lowdown on what they did tomorrow morning…i’ll be at work all day so i’ll phone frogga to post it up for me…£712.00…phuckin outragous…

i just dont get the 3 services into 1 malarky…ok change the chain and sproko’s…cable…yada yadda yadda…but for christ sake…dont treat me like a retard……im gonna see just how far out my valves were…surley they have to log it down …

bollox…im just gonna walk up to the counter and pull my pants down so they can shaft me properley…!!!

btw…ive missed the 11 and the 14,000 mile service…kinda screwd up there…but ive just looked at the workshop manual and everything bar the plugs and oil should be inspected…key word…INSPECTED…!!!

so let me get this right…if there charging me for the 3 services…i should then have my book stamped 3 times…right?

anyways…crap day at work but satisfied in the fact that i rung the neck of that GS today …ripped it around like a scolded cat……

cant wait to give it back with an empty tank……

Shane… geez man they saw you coming! Had to chuckle to myself.

Have been feeling a bit annoyed that I was quoted £180 and paid £200… If anyone is in the trade maybe you can answer me this. If I am verbally quoted £180 is that inc or ex VAT??? Probably got off lightly as they only charge 2.5 hrs labour… £50 p/h + oil, filter and sundries. I gave them a K&N to put in the bike and told them not to change plugs unless they were gone, in which case I wanted to see them.

You could do the chain thing yourself mate. As Adz said £320 for valves etc… not over £700 a new cable, say £30, some oil… na. Stdealers are rubbish!

Oh and another thing. Took the bike out this evening and just noticed that they have scuffed the carbon fibre in fills on both sides of the tank… must have been when they took it off to get at the airbox. Another trip to dealer to complain

They do seem to be taking the pee shane?..seems too much money. Bet most of that is VAT and labour…jeez…youre right mate, might as well bend over and let em shaft u any which way …they are doing it anyway !!
