Though on a more serious note my next door neighbour is fighting a case of driving and using a phone. The fact they were calling 999 to request an ambulance for an ill friend was not good enough. Though it is perfectly legal to call the emergency services while driving. But what is pissing them off is the copper has concocted a series of lies. My neighbour has had to get a lawyer and go to court with their mobile bill to prove they were calling 999.
there are people on here that I think would back the police for this one. apparently cracking a joke or having a laugh is no laughing matter!!!
The sad thing is its not surprising any more,if it aint against the law labour will make it so,come to think of it how come bankers have not been done,they must be laughing all the way home
Don’t the police have to prove he wasn’t or is this just mitigation? I would not be at all surprised if he still gets done even when he proves the 999 call…Police were quick enough to check Lord Ahmets phone when it suited them so what’s the problem here ?:)

It’s not mitigation, their lawyer claims it quite clearly says you can use the phone to call 999 (0781 3255 press button B and our adviser will be with you as soon as possible. Greensleves playing in background)
The copper did not want to know evidently, he was passed the phone to listen to the 999 operator, But in his evidence on the sheet he denies having being passed the phone. And come up with a whole load of other stuff that never happened.
As far as the good Lord goes - well he is a politician, he deserves a good kicking just for breathing.
Ah yes, of course…Nice to live in a well balanced society where people deserve a kicking for having a particular job and policemen tell lies and fabricate evidence to catch a phone user…snigger…
