Nurburgring

As it’s a public road and you have to use a road legal vehicle on it, is it legal to have a pillion on your bike when you ride it?

Also, do they have strict noise limits (do I need to take my baffle)…My exhaust is 104dB.

Can you? I sure as hell wouldn’t want to go pillion, and I understand even some standard bikes have been turned away!

I’ve been a few times and never seen anyone get noise tested - they have race cars going round the same time as everyone else sometimes and nobody really buts an eye lid from what I’ve seen but probably best to take it with you just incase if just bolts on.

I think you can take pillions but you’d never catch me on the back of a bike going round there - I sh*t myself enough taking my car round

Pillions are OK, noise levels are not tested (although there are noise meters near the start gates). Just make sure the track is actually open the day you want to go. It’s often from about 5:30 - 7:30pm and weekends.

You are looking for Touristenfahrten dates and times, weekends are very busy and you have coaches etc…

Tip: you can start halfway round and buy a half lap at Adenau, it gives you a gentle taster and warms your tyres, then you come in the pits and start a full lap again. (Repeat until money or balls run out). You can buy full and part laps from the cafe there and it’s less crowded.

PS - follow the route on the site if you are going from Calais. It sounds complicated but it’s very easy. The part once you get off the motorway is much more interesting, there are some great roads around the circuit.

didnt andyp and chris get some good footage of nurburgring 2 up??

My bike didn’t get noise tested and I also went round once as a pillion… which was fun …8/10 on the scary factor though!

Thanks Kickstart

i have been a few times too and it seems to me that anything goes.

So what does ita ctually cost? Couldn’t find any details on the website.

Its about £8 a single lap & you buy can single, 4, 8, 25 lap tickets etc (something like that) which work out slightly cheaper the more you buy.

21 Euro a lap back in June this year, 75 Euro for 4 lap ticket, 1000 ish Euro for a season ticket.:w00t:

Really! Sh*t thats shot up!

hmm probably cheaper than a track day…

yeah ! since Clarkson got on it a couple years back the place has been flooded with Brits, and unsurprisingly, the crouts took the p1ss! (er I mean are milking it a bit) :frowning:

When you going mate??? was thinking of doing a trip over there next month

Yes, it’s pretty expensive.

If you are going for a few days I would recommend this place to stay, it’s about an hour away but the roads round there are fantastic and André is a great host.

Hopefully next month…

Flight (Fran) is picking up his 09 R1 12th September and he asked me to run it in for him at the Nurburgring

:w00t: i take it he is insane and has no idea the meaning to his words

There are lots of hotels in Adenau to stay so no worries there. The Blau Eck run by Klaus is very homely and comfortable and IIRC the Biker Hotel on the edge of town is ideal for us type too.

The last time I went, must be four years now, took a mate pillion round and both got knee down in the karussel (spelling?). a feat such as that will be a memory I will forever treasure.

Have fun but be very wary of the weather. The eiffel region has it’s own micro climate, it could be glorious sunshine at the gate, while the far end of the track could be experiencing a huge deluge of rainfall.

Also always hold something back, it’s really easy to get sucked in by the track. You think you remember ‘this bit’ and gun it, only to suddenly realise ‘this bit’ is not just yet.:w00t:

Whatever, you’ll have a cracking time.
