Not bad for a retired bloke

Retired Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher finished fourth on Sunday in his first competitive motorbike race.

The 39-year-old German, whose seven titles and 91 grand prix wins make him Formula One’s most successful driver, recorded the second fastest lap in the KTM minor series race at the Misano circuit on Italy’s Adriatic coast. Schumacher, who has tested a Ducati MotoGP bike since retiring from Formula One at the end of 2006, rode a 990cc KTM Super Duke in the 10-lap KTM Trophy race having finished third in Saturday’s qualifying. Schumacher, an advisor and occasional test driver for Formula One champions Ferrari, enjoys riding bikes but has made it clear he has no intention of trying to race in MotoGP or superbikes but may compete in other minor events. “There’ll be no second career on motorbikes,” he told reporters. “This is just a hobby. At the start I was a bit too careful, I didn’t begin well and I was well behind. Then I found my way and started overtaking and it was great.” The challenging Misano circuit also hosts a round of the MotoGP and world superbike championships later in the year

Top man:cool:

The bar steward is the same age as me, he’s retired and just for fun he races motorbikes, makes me think I made some wrong choices in life! :w00t:

I bet he’s enjoying his retirement a lot more than most people mind!

Since that press release he has won a race in Spain on a Triumph 675.

That press release was today:w00t:

Did he have 2 races then?

I saw that press release last week fella, on another site. He finished behind 2 very good riders.

The news about the win was on VD over the last couple of days.

Apologies if I’m wrong but the Barcelona / 675 was dated 28th March where as this one was today’s date.

Confused Chunky:w00t:

Sorry fella, I think you are correct. I had seen a previous released where he finished 3rd on a Honda.

This is from VD too…even more confusing…lolhttp://www.visordown.com/motorcyclenews/view/michael_schumacher_set_to_race_again_this_weekend/4122.html

respect to the fella, not obnly can ge drive F1 cars…he aint slow on a bike either!

good result for him, hope he wins more, hes a legend!

Imagine Damon Hill, who’s still quick on a bike last time I saw him on a Superduke, meeting Schoomy out there on track :pinch: That’d be worth watching

Both riding Sennas:D

Theres a thought… A Ducati 1098 Schumacher:D

Tim you can`t be the same age as him and me, you look at least 8 years older.:stuck_out_tongue:

He had a hard paper round;)

he was riding 675 and that explains a lot

I think you will find he was on a KTM for this one:)

Looks like there’s a little confusion on the when and what fronts. Does it matter?

The blokes just done some (more) pretty good stuff.

Hill and Shumy head to head on matched bikes sounds a dream race to me.

Oldguy.

The confusion was sorted.

First he did a minor race which he won on the T675

This weekend he came 4th in a KTM Superduke Trophy Race:)
