While I’m certainly know as no poster child for political correctness, I have a real good mate who just happens to be Islamic (big-honking beard and all) and everytime something like this happens the amount of abuse, suspicion, insults etc. he has to contend with goes through the roof.
I feel bad for all the decent Muslims, having their reputation tarnished by a bunch of extremist nut-cases, and having to put up with all the sh!te they have to contend with just because of the way they look when they are decent tax-paying citizens like the rest of us.
This is very true. A good friend of mine from work is Muslim and she has a hard time anyway with people as she has a vail. Problem is that when you have papers trying to push sales they will use any half story and then a part of that for the title to get people to buy the paper.
The problem is no Islam IMO. It’s nutters with sad minds working together to bring hurt and sadness to all of us. I’d ask anyone who has a bad thought about a Muslim person when they see them in the street to think that at the same time that person could be a doctor, bus driver, teacher, etc doing as much as you are to make this country better.
Only a sad mind will judge on view. Best to take the time to get to know the person and then if they are a bunt, such is life
