Newbie

Hey Guys, new to the forum so I’ll get the beers in

My bro is on here already as yellowzx6r or something and he posted some pics of me SMC up the other day (Reaper and Flame graphics) so thought I’d drop in and say Hi. I’ve also met Jay (?) I think when he started his Gixxer for me, offers still open for a go of me motor by the way

Usually hang around on Visordown SuperMoto forum, but thought I’d join you guys too as there ain’t many motard riders on here, so you need to boost the numbers!

Right then SM wise I had a Duke II for 18 months which was a top ****in motor. Fitted the KTM Y piece tuning kit, carb/airbox mods, G-force cans (very loud, in fact loud like you would not believe) and lower gearing. Great bike, I put 7500 miles on it completely trouble free inspite of the usual KTBOOM comments

Well after 18 months I traded in me Duke for an 04 KTM SMC625. Wow, ****in amazing bike. Biggest diff over the Duke was the drop in weight by almost 20kg. Its also about 5bhp more than the LC4/Duke as standard. Mods so far: Black plastics, Graphics kit, black powdercoated wheels and hubs, Remus full system, Airbox/carb mods (now have a big hole into the airbox ) and HM racing set up. Result 57 bhp and 47lb of torque

I love my motards and anyone thinking of giving it a go should get a test ride, they rock, although they aren’t everyones cup of tea!

See we have a few DRZ riders about, cool motors if a little underpowered, but good thought the traffic.

Anyway hope to see some of you at the Ace, try and get down for the Ace SM night, theres quite a few Visordowners who usually make it as well.

Anyway bye for now

Mofo

Hi,

Welcome. Saw the pic’s of your bike, looks great. I’ve signed up for visordown but don’t spend much time there. Let me know about the next sm night at the ace. I’ve never been, I know I should get my arse there.

The SM night at the Ace is the 3rd Wednesday of every month. It’s motard and streetfighter night and starts from 6pm. It’s a cracking night usually and defo worth a visit if it’s dry!

Hey Supermofo, welcome to the site! Yep, your brother posted up some pictures of your bike, and I fell in love with it, it looks amazing, so much of a nicer bike than my DRZ! (to be fair though, that isn’t saying much, it’s tatty for a reason) If I ride it, I’ll want one, and I can’t at the moment as I’ve commited myself to other things, but thanks for the offer anyhow!

We were down at the Ace Cafe SM night this month, but there wasn’t many people there, and it took the whole night before anyone started doing any stunts, which I found hard to fathom considering how brilliant SM’s are for stunting!

We do need to work on the number of SM members, so thanks for joining up, I’m all for supporting the different types of biking we have going on in this city of ours. If you know anyone else into supermotos, point them over here!

Jay was thinking of maybe posting a message on the visordown motard site see if we could get some of the london boys to join here too?

Please do, feel free. I can’t, as it’s not really the done thing for me to go over and try to ‘convert’ people.

Hi Mate,

Yeah I went down for the last motard night, but most of the visordown lot where there between 6 and 8pm. Bit sad really, I know, but we had 1 birthday, an anniversary, I play football at 8.30 etc, etc. So we all left a bit early which is crap. Think I’m gonna give the footie a miss next month and stay all night.

As I said if you do wanna go…
remember
DRZ
134kg
35 bhp
26 Lb

SMC
134kg
57 bhp
47 lb

Not that I’m tempting ya or nothing!

Yup motards are great for stunts, unless you are a talentless muppet like me!

Oh yeah forgot for moto heads check out Pyschomoto by IQ 18 films, its a motard only DVD, ain’t got my copy yet but intend to soon. IQ 18 do the Streetfighter DVD’s.
Also now and again we meet up round the Highbeach area and then go for a blast round the motardtastic roads round the Lavers and Harlow. There so good in fact that I decided to do a bit of grass tracking into the verge last time!!

Supermofo… Welcome to L/B mate… saw the pics of your bike… WOW!!! Nice!!! Managed to get my grubby little mitts on Jay’s DRZ for a few days this week… I have been riding like a complete amimal… I have also been lucky enough to have a go on a few Dukes… I think it would be very wise that I stick to my Blade for now… Would love to get one for the winter though!!! See you at the Ace…

Foxy, a blade and supermoto are a perfect bike combo. Desiding which to ride is the hard part.

I’d love 2 bikes but know I wouldn’t use 1 much. It was hard parting with my Blade but glad I did, 3 yrs into motard only bikes and I don’t miss sportsbikes at all.

Strangely apart from not worrying about crashing so much, I found my Duke quite hard work at times in the winter. The throttles on LC4s are v responsive and tend to dump a lot of torque to the rear wheel when you dont want it to which trys to unhook the rear end. Good fun when thats your intention but not so good when on a disel slicked roundabout with white van man up your chuff

There’s nothing like a bit of rear-wheel steering to get the heart pumping I must admit, I’m quite tempted to go on the Californian Superbike School for SuperMoto, learn to ride them properly!
