now I’m sure many of you have been on the IOM steampacket before. what happens with regards to strapping the bike down? do I put it on the centrestand and they have the straps or what? will they deal with it or do I need to?

If it’s steam packet, they’ll strap it down - just check after they’ve done it that you’re happy with the positioning of the straps
