I need a new rear tyre but the front still looks like it’s got a decent amount of life in it. Is it okay to just swap out the rear tyre? dumb question i know but i want to be 100%. Also where is the cheapest palce for a pilot power?
You will have no issue with just a new rear tyre. Just give it time to bed in. I’ve even gone different brands front/rear. Maxxis/Pirelli! No issues at all.
Do a search for Essential Rubber or www.fwr.co.uk for tyres.
Different tyres has always been classed as a no-no!!
Obviously if you’re taking it easy there wont be an issue - but… on the track, at speed - I wouldn’t want to have a mixture not made for each other - I’m sure there’s some tyre experts on here, but different grip issues at speed leads to one thing… :ermm:
I even asked at essential about mixing the qualifyer front with a qualifyer 2 rear and was given a harsh look! lol
i won’t be swapping types of tyres just new with old but same model.
For normal road riding there is next to no difference if you stick with the same tyre type (ie, both of mine are sports touring tyres). Viggen, sticking with same tyre brand is spot on. You’ll have no issues.
No problem, do it.
Fronts always outlast the rears approx 2 to 1. I was gutted as I wanted to change brand, but still had a full rear’s worth left on the front. Next time eh, just in time for winter! :ermm:

you could put two new tyres on and keep the front for later…
