Looks very much like metal banding to me.
I’ve read that improperly adjusted suspension has a part to play in bad tyre wear.
I don’t think theres anything wrong with AndyCr15’s suspensions it must be all the BMWs his racing on the A406 
I think it’s actually split rather than worn. I do recall a point yesterday when I thought the rear slide out a few inches on a bend, I guess it was actually this happening…
