New to the bike scene....advice regarding race can on 125

Are these things breeding or something?

As for doing something to the standard can, forget that idea. If you are going to do it get a proper can, then you can put the standard one back on when you sell the bike.

like rabbits…

arnt nsr’s faster than cbr’s?

probably retuned/longer gears/fairng/lighter frame, cg engine make it 85 capable

I wanted to steer clear from 2 stroke and preffered the reliability of a decent new 4 stroke machine but your right the NSR’s are faster…also they sound horrid! For a learner bike the CBR’s are perfect! Roll on the need for speed in good time when I buy a bigger cc bike after I’ve built up more riding experience.

a two stroke engine note is music of the bike gods, make sure you buy a stroker (rgv/rs 250) as your next bike, you wont be dissapointed. do it before the green brigade bans em! i love two strokes, they even smell good

everyone should have 2stroke at least once

I agree with the reliability issue the RS’s are fun but for a 17 year old its heart breaking seeing all your money going in to nothing because your never going to get it back when you sell the bike, the only thing i didnt like about the CBR 125’s is the size there very skiny. your bike and your mates look great together tho great pics.

the onley thing i ever had wrong with my prilla was the altenator, got it replaced under warrenty tho

oh and most of my pipe/ system droped off but i still maintain that was arrow’s fault

even tho she was tuned hard, she never popped

So no mention of the words ‘road legal’ then ?

Nice to know there’s at least one other biker on here with a soul !

2-strokes are indeed the transport of the gods - the powers that be had to rig the rules to allow the diesels to have twice the capacity in order to get them out of the GPs

There’s no sensation in the bike world like the feel of a tuned 2T powerband kicking in, like you I just feel sorry that there’s a whole section of riders out there that never have (or ever will) experience it.

true

Maybe not 33, i just looked it up and it was about 28 bhp without restrictors

Charly - Any details mate?

Nice one mate!

Those 125s are smart little motors and the best thing to start with. I agree 2 strokes rock and the power, feel and smell is awesome but overall the pain in the aris they cause you life is so much easier with a 4 stroke.

Best road going 2 stroke ever built IMO Kawasaki KR1S! PB tested it on the strip with a top speed of 139mph and for early 1990 thats fast for a 250 Would love to have one as a second bike!

Oh! You lot stop showing these lovely little things to me! I want one now!

No mate, stick with your Benley’s, leave the fast bikes for the others.

I always fancied an RS125. Derestricted they used to do 110 and for a 125 they had a huge rear tyre to get the power down. Still one of my fave bikes.

They are indeed all that, but they also turn in so quick it makes your average R1/GSXR feel like a barge in comparison.

If you’re alert & in the mood then 2T race reps are simply the most rewarding experience in biking, but they do require 100% commitment to ride properly, if not then they’re a pain in the ass.

Nice to have them in the garage for such occasions though

Hope we get to see your beastie down at the Cubana soon, Overboost. Can I also just applaud you for going the geared-bike road after CBT, and not scooter-lane.

I know that scooters can be enormous fun having done my best to destroy a few, but in the mods and rockers argument there’s no doubting that a bike chain and body armour is going win hands down over a poncy suit and a pair of slip-ons any day!

Hey LSD, thanks for that mate. Whats Cubana, I am new to this site.

It all starts with changing the pipe on a 125… then before you know it you have two bikes (one minter and one “project”), spares in the loft, tools that most people have never seen, and are posting about unsprung weight and air fuel ratios on the net. Let the modding begin
