New thread!

Best secret spot you know of.
Mine used to be the Dog House on Wardour Street.
All it was was a glass door to the top of some stairs, but at the bottom was the grooviest little labyrinthine cave-like bar that did THE best ****tails in London. Plus it was round the corner from my office. Too cool for Skool!
Not sure if its still there, but I’m gonna have to go back tonight just to see.

Anyone got anywhere else they want to share?

I’ve worked just off Wardour St for 2.5 years and never heard of that place!

Un-related but did you know John Hurt lives just round the corner on Gt Pulteney St?

My fav little hang out is Crazy Bear in Whitfield Street. You would never think it was a bar and restaurant as it looks like a very exculsive bar/ gentleman’s club. This is because all you see is a bear claw mark on the floor outside.

It’s very cosy and would be a fab place to take a date! Make sure you check out the loos - that’s if you can find them…

Oooh I’ve got several but if I told you guys they wouldn’t be secret eh! I’ll drop one just 'cos I don’t get there as much now…

The Castle in Aldgate (off commercial road). Pub downstairs, been done up now so not quite as good as it was as you get students in

HOWEVER - What most people don’t know is that if you head up the steep thin stairs by the loos (you feel like you’re heading into the landlords flat or something) and you end up in a room thats almost always empty with arrows and a couple of pool tables. Fill with mates, open the big sash windows and it *‘Leo Sayer’ time. Its not signed - you have to know its there.

  • ‘Leo Sayer’ rhyming slang for all dayer

Nice Gooner,
Your mysterious allegiance to “north of the river” is forgiven.
Your inexplicable association with Arsenal however is a matter for another day.

Can I just point out the absolutely @n@l nature of the firewall on this site.
The word C0cktail in the first post I put on this thread has been half deleted cos its rude.

How am I supposed to discussing raising Big Fat chickens and C0CKERELS now then?

sorry moderators, just priceless

I didn’t know people still drank ****tails

My fav place is The Dickens Inn @ St Katherine’s Dock, great atmosphere and The Captain Kidd in Wapping.

GG

I work around there and must walk past it reugularly - will have to check it out!

Not much of a secret but on a high summers day a great place is the terrace at The Gun off Manchester Road on Isle of Dogs.

Big Terrace, BBQ food and quality lager. Dome just 100yds across the river. It is also a Gastro Pub with a good rep so you have to look past the chinless wonders though

IF you ever venture south GixxerGooner, and you’re looking ofr a Pub Garden, you couldn’t do much better than the massive beer garden at the Duke of Edinburgh just off BRixton High Street.
Its huge, they do TAN-FAST-IC Barbecue (home made burgers, not packet cr@p) and regular late licence cos they’ back onto a train track so no neighbours to disturb. TOP TOP NIGHTS OUT THERE, I tell ya!

Prospect of Whitby, Wapping Wall E1

Lovely in the Summer and real nice and cosy upstairs in the Winter !!

That’s the Soho Wine bar me thinks…great place to get absolutely pi$$ed in, and yes, even though the place is small, you can still get lost in it after a few bottles

Isn’t it full of Bender’s??
