Personally I loved the new one, but I’m not particularly fussed about the old style one, and it matches my avatar.

I don’t like it, probably because I don’t like Red
I do not care about the logo, but the previous one looked more modern, the replacement original one feels like clip art.
But the big red banner is rather overwhelming. Solid primary colours are dominant, but red for me is the worst. It always pushes itself into the foreground so it distracts your attention, especially with the page have large amounts of white or dark space to contrast with it.
A lighter more recessive shade may work better, so it blends into the page rather than standing out and constantly demanding attention. Though that would probably mean needing to be more of a pink.
