Neutral Light + Clutch

So, I washed my FZ6 for the first time since I got it today. Looks great now its all shiny and degreased however I seem to have washed a new feature into it.

When I pull the clutch in the neutral light comes on, it never used to do this, and nor do I think its supposed to. It still works as a neutral light, and if you’re in gear it goes out as you release the clutch but that doesn’t make it very useful.

Any hints?

disconnect the neutral switch, dry if damp and wd40 the switch and connector. dunno where your neutral switch is mind. on a hornet they’re down by the front sprocket. can find it by looking for the wire that goes onto it but you may need to refer to a shop manual/find out from someone with a fazza

I had the same thing with the high-beam warning light. Couldnt work it out until I realised I was pulling the clutch lever onto the flasher button. I guess that’s not much help to you though, sorry.

neutral switch connection as said, also check sidestand switch

Erg haven’t actually found the offending water logged sensor yet but pretty sure that’s what it will be. Found some other Fazer owners with a similar problem.
Might nab a service manual off eBay to help me track it down! Will probably dry itself out by then though heh

had a similar problem on my hornet. in the end i needed a new neutral switch. dead cheap and a piece of pi*s to fit. it’s just a bolt really. pull the wire off it (bullet connector), undo it, put the new one in and attach the wire again. you may find it has a washer on it too which, if you can’t get hold of a new switch in time, remove and it’ll put the connector on the switch a bit further into the hole. that’s all on a hornet mind but i’m sure yours won’t be too different. a shop manual will help you out no end not just for this, but loads of basic stuff. good luck.
