After yesterday’s 130 mile round trip on the M25 I’ve decided enough is enough. Can anyone recommend a good pair of ear plugs that i can purchase? Not fussy about budget, just after quality and reputation
get the self-moulding custom sets from ebay. they’re much more comfortable and a much better fit. a lot cheaper than getting a company to mould them for you too
I just use big bags of cheap orange ones from Infinity Motorcycles. Never had a problem with them.
I use LaserLite Foam ones…but I guess bespoke pre-molded are the way to go… Bike show to get close up and personal?

Thanks for suggestions guys. That’ll do
I use disposable foam ones because a) I get them free at work and b) they get manky and it’s convenient being able to throw them away.
I quite like these:

comfortable and effective and not bad price at £20 with the nice little metal tube to keep them in
Also, bear in mind that if you’re buying custom moulded ones for better performance then you may be disappointed - especially if you mould them yourself. The HSE did some research a few years ago and a lot of the moulded & self mould ones failed to comply with the relevant standard.
I’ve been using foam types for years. I briefly dabbled with the moulded ones a year or so ago, and I wasn’t impressed. IMHO save your money, and get some foam ones.

A decent helmet and a set of foam plugs will cancel out pretty much all wind noise. I got myself a Bluetooth helmet intercom set, That and My Arai RX7GP cancels out pretty much all the wind noise with Music played from my phone :)
Sorry to say but your music doesn’t cancel out wind noise, it just adds to it, increasing likelihood of hearing damage long term.
Years of working in Night Clubs has done my ears anyway so i’m not really that bothered to be honest
A tenner for 25 pairs is a rip off. Dig a around a bit more.I am sure you will get a much better deal.

I love my earphones from www.ultimateear.co.uk They are not cheap at £180, but you can usually get 10% discount at a bike show or if you are a member of the IAM, wich drops them down to £162. As I listen to music on nearly all of my non London rides, I enjoy riding more now. I wish I had bought them much earlier. They are custom made, so a pefect fit sure.
Check out Screwfix’s offerings, they list the Db ratings too http://www.screwfix.com/c/safety-workwear/ear-plugs/cat850382#category=cat850382&sort_by=price
the 3m 1100 disposable plugs from screwfix are the same ones I get from work - block out sound very well and stay put in your ears, can’t ask for much more. I have a little metal tube on my bike keyring to store them in and I just use them until they start getting dirty and then bin them for a new pair. If I spent big money on custom ones, I’d probably lose them within a week.
