So, coming back from our Cornwall Run this weekend and there’s only myself, at the rear, Dave at the front leading, and our friend Sue in the middle.
We’re heading towards Glastonbury on the A39 and both Dave and Sue safely filter past this bloke in a Volvo who has, appeared so at the time, moved to the inside of the lane to give them plenty of room.
We all turn left at a roundabout and as he was tootling on the inside at 20 mph in a 30, I filtered passed leaving him plenty of space and without going over the line.
Travelling nicely at 30mph, I see him coming up behind me at a rate of knots…so I maintain my speed and position in the road. I can’t see his front grill cos he’s so close, so I flick the rear brake…he drops back slightly, but then speeds up again.
I then do my usual of glancing back…but to no avail…as he moves to the inside lane I point to my pillion seat in a way to say…“Wanna jump on ya tit!?”. We come to a set of lights and as we’re starting off he tries to undertake me but can’t get upto speed in time, 40mph, so has to brake and drift in behind me. Again he continues to tail gate me.
Next set of lights and he tries the same move…only this time, as my lane filters into his, he speeds up so he’s level with me and then moves out causing me to swerve into the opposite lane into on coming traffic. The car coming the other way had to brake and move over, but then I had no choice but to try and squeeze in between the 2@ and the car in front as a lorry was coming towards me. At this point the 2@ decided to press the horn and scare the woman in the car in front…I only just managed to avoid the lorry.
So, Dave and Sue then turn left at a roundabout and head into a Service Station, I continue on once I realise the Volvo is going straight over and over take him further down the road…I get him to stop and walk to his window…“You know how to drive behind a bike?” I ask…“What?” he replies…I repeat the question then advise him that tail gating is dangerous behind any vehicle but more so for a bike and to then push me out onto on coming traffic was even more so. He then said, “You cut me up twice!”, reversed and hit my arm with his wing mirror and buggered off. His wife and kid were in the car so I tried to stay reserved…but it was very hard.
It shook me up…so I called the Avon and Somerset Police who told me to report it with my local nick…which I did yesterday. Sue seen most of what was going on and has given me her details to be an independant witness.
I don’t want him charged…just educated and reminded of what he could have caused.
should have kicked im and then said OI YOU NO!! then walk off Cinematicly
Glad no harm was done
shoulda punched the c**t !! one day he will actually have someone off
What a pratt, hope he does get nicked because a talking to won`t do anything from him doing it again.
Nasty experience but well done for keeping your calm. Us bikers are too vulnerable to start trying to threaten big moving bits of metal with w*nkers inside.
A lot of tongue biting goes on in my helmet (sounds ruder than I meant it to) – in fact I had a sooped up 'Scort cut me up and try and run me off the road yesterday. I just let the idiot get on his way and then continued my journey, but was angry as hell!
Should have educated him yourself FFS !
I’ve learnt to keep more or less calm on the bike (you gotta really riding thru London every day) but that guy went too far IMO .
What a nutter - and with his wife and kid in the car as well! Must be the hot weather or something.
4rse. Trouble is most of the w4nkers down there are either that loaded they think they own the road or they are that “loaded” they are not on this planet. Should have asked his wife what they would do with out a car or a husband
It’s difficult, but keeping calm and philosophical works best for me.
Gave up talking to the to++ers years ago ever since I was told it was my fault for riding a motorcycle. No hope with that sub humanity.
Does make me think that it’s good we have repressive gun laws in this country.
Dunno what i would have done…something stupid most likely.
Some people are just anti bike unfortunately.
