I was going up to Stansted last Friday at about 6am.
Going up the A12 was fine, but as soon as I hit the M11 it was freezing fog.
Within no time my visor had frozen ice on it. So I had to ride with it 3/4 of the way open.
At least my bins kept the cold air from hitting my eyes directly, but the rest of my face was…well you can imagine.
Stuck to 60 on the inside lane a good distance behind the car in front.
be glad it wasnt raining cause your specs wouldve frozen too i had that on m40 2 weeks ago
Ive had that too and its not nice.
U think someone would come up with a heated visor,heated sreens on cars id buy ?
i remember going to oxford a few yrs back and it was frightfully cold, all my zips/metal had icicles hanging form em, lol
Haven’t seen a heated visor, but did anyone seethe chap on Dragons Den that invented a wiper. I thought it was brilliant.
I seem to remember that a few years ago, BMW produced a heated visor for their System Helmets. I don’t know if they’re still available :unsure:
Blimey that woulda panicked me i reckon…had a sheet of snow/ice on my front after a winter ride home to yorkshire few years back quite funny, got off the bike walked into me mums kitchen…stamped me foot and it just slid to the floor like a sheet of glass:w00t:

Not quite.
There was a D.I.Y. heated visor arrangement published in the BMW club Journal. It involved masking off areas and painting the bits that still showed with conductive paint.
Worked very well. Then I cleaned the visor. Bu**er!

You can buy almost heated anything, possibly even a thong for all I know.
But a visor? It’s not friggin rocket science, it’s a few bits of resistance wire and connectivity.

I’ve found the Bob Heath Vee Wipe works for me, as long as you use it at regular intervals and do not allow any dirty water to freeze or dry on the outside. If it does, it is useful to have that old T-shirt that you used to dry the seat available (as it is wet through!) to wipe the outside clean. Then start again, and remember to wipe more frequently.

with regards to the visor freezing do you have a pinlock?
short circuit on one of those could be interesting to say the least
Pinlock wouldnt stop the moisture on the outside of the visor caused by fog from freezing.
Re an earlier comment, some cars do have heated windscreens mine does and defrosts in seconds, no scraping necessary ;).
True it wouldn’t totally stop it but I think that the thermal difference of a visor fitted with a pinlock would possible slow the process down, that and a v-wipe.
