After 6 weeks of trying to manage with a mixture of crutches and wheelchair, I’m slowwly going a little crazy. Wheelchair is cumbersome and slow and makes me feel more disabled than I am. Crutches hurt as the process of using them is not allowing my sciatic nerve to recover. So as I have about another 4 - 6 weeks to go, I did some Googling and found this bad-boy. He arrives tomorrow - same colour as my bike and according to the website he should be the answer to all of my woes! Just have to accept that I will look like a first class bell end riding it! - will probably ditch the shopping basket though!
Has anyone used one, seen one even?
Oh and while I’m here checking in, if you had said before Xmas that you were planning to come and visit, don’t forget - would be lovely to see you!
A girl at work had that… fucking brilliant fun they are and so much better than trying to get around on crutches! She was always whizzing about going faster than all of us!
Reading this has made me so happy Alex. The website sounds a bit too good to be true, so am now really excited!! Have been feeling a bit like a caged animal as it’s such a faff to get out of here, this will give me loads more freedom, hopefully.
I only saw her around the office with it. It could be a bit more challenging on the pavements with bumps etc but still loads better than crutches…
Mind you it does take some getting used to especially to brake… She told me the first week she did bump into people quite a lot as she was gaining confidence but forgetting to brake
Well maybe it’s possible to get a bigger off road version? Or one with an engine? I mean if you go to BM and park it next to the 125s no one would even notice
Ooh good to know - love the idea of getting some speed up - have definitely been stuck in the slow lane for too long. But will try to avoid collisions, live in a tourist area, so that will be tricky, but will try my best - or perhaps not in the case of those annoying buggers who are walking along and then suddenly stop without any regard to their surroundings/ fellow pedestrians!
looks cool - get work to pay for taxi’s and you can go to work and whizz around as I am sure they will have disabled access lifts etc so you can get access to/from the building - you can probably fit a cam to it too so you can catch the dnsy brigade cutting you up again
I think with some ingenuity we could fit a small 2 stroke engine and put roller skate on the good leg and bobs your uncle ! :w00t:
