Junction next to Essex Road tube this morning, blocked in by a cyclist in front, Audi and Range Rover next to me. Lights go green, cyclist sits there like an idiot and the cars attempt to pass me. Range Rover rolls over my left foot, slows down and looks at me then boots off.
I don’t think anything is broken, toes are a bit tingly but that’s to be expected.
I trust you got the reg number and reported the incident to the Police. Fleeing the scene of an accident is taken very seriously by the boys and girls in blue.
TO be honest I blame the cyclist who cut in front of me. If I’d have taken position where I wanted to be this wouldn’t have happened and I’m not sure if he was aware or not as I was more concerned with getting out of harms way and checking my foot wasn’t broke than flagging him down.
Just my luck I get the only cyclist in London who doesn’t jump reds
Just a footnote, was quite impressed my foot isn’t in two halves. There’s a long mark over my boot which I’ll take a picture of later and he caught me good (not just the edge!).
The driver of the Range Rover made the decision to pull away and drive through a gap which they clearly were not able to do and in the process ran over the foot of a stationary motorcyclist. How is this ever going to be anything other than 100% blame to the careless Range Rover driver?
I had a car wait on my foot once rolled up right next to me, stopped on my foot I was hitting the window and screaming at the women but she just did not move…
Did you do more than scream, if you catch my drift? I would have gone berserk in that situation.
I’ve had it happen to me Jakeyz but on a lesser scale, its 100% the cagers fault and with a car that big/heavy he should be more aware! But most 4x4 drivers are typical road bullies and just don’t care about any other road user. Too bad you didn’t get his details, he needs to be punished, had you been wearing different boots or clown shoes, there could have been serious damage.
I would have gone mental but I was in a situation where I could not safely dismount the bike, I had no room to maneuver I literally had to wait it out. I caught up with her (divers side this time, her nearside is what was on my foot). Explained why I was banging the window she did not give a ****.
Got a bit over optimistic filtering once down Highway, big coach on my left, cars on right, got so far along then traffic came to halt and a car ahead blocked me filtering past coach, so just had to stop. When the traffic moved again, the bus moved first before car blocking me, and rear bus wheel went over my toes! Feck that hurt, but thankfully no damage. I now make sure when I put my feet down, my toes are pointing forward or inwards, rather than outwards… That and make sure I can filter completely past anything big, before committing.
This is only the third time I’ve been hurt, first was when I locked the front wheel up and second was an attempt at a wheelie.
I do see a lot of interesting stuff so I bought a helmet cam, I have video footage of a Dominos pizza guy getting badly hit by a black cab and various near misses I’ve had myself but so far been quite lucky.
My uncle told me when you start riding you have two buckets, one full of luck and the other is empty but fills up with experience. You need to ensure your experience bucket fills up faster than your luck bucket runs out. I’m starting to relate to this more and more.
I was on my way to my first ever BM meet when a car ran over my foot. Police nearby had no interest.
I have had a fair bit of misfortune on bikes ever since I threw a leg over one (hence the name), and thats why I mainly stay away from road riding… That misfortune has crept into my track riding now on my last time out :-/
