My bike's been written off! :(

I can’t believe it, they’ve written off my bike. Waiting for the insurance company to decide how much my P&J is worth. Wouldn’t be so bad if the bike was damaged, it’s all just cosmetic stuffs.
For now I still have the hire SV650 (Which is love :hehe: but I do miss my bike) so I’m still mobile at least.
I was wondering though after they’ve decided how much it’s worth and they pay up… what happens to my bike? As I said it’s only cosmetic damage so I’d quite like to get it back and tidy it up a bit myself…
Sad day indeed :frowning:

you can normally get intouch with your insurance and arrange to buy it back fella

Are you still in posession of the bike ?
When my gsxr750 was written off I got market value for it and kept the bike - depends on the insurer what they’ll do.You should be able to buy it back as salvage and put it back on the road.

ah thats crap hope u get it sorted soon ive had 2 smashed up by cagers in the past one just after i spent ages spraying it up i wasnt happy…

sad to hear it mate, get in touch wiv your insurance and ask them to give ya your bike. Same thing happened to me last Sept, they wrote it off as cat C, it was better for them to pay the market value and asked me whether i wanted the bike back. so i said yes, they dropped my bike off, took the hire bike and that was it:)

I’ve been offered £1,100 for the bike, or £880 if I want the bike back…
Not sure what to do really, even if I got my bike back I’d have to repair it, re-register it with the DVLA and when I’d either make a loss now or when I try and sell it in a year or so. Meh, annoying :frowning:

Mate if it is only cosmetics you could streetfighter it or if that isnt your thing you could proberbly make more money by breaking it yourself or selling it to someone as it is. All depends on how much messing around, if any, you want to do

stranger, dunno wot ins.company u wiv but if you could reject the offer and tell them to come up wiv a higher price and then buy it back… did they take your log book? i didn’t have to send it in or nufink, they offered money for it and the bike back, i checked it with my solicitor, he said thats a gud price if im getting the bike back on top of it so went ahead and once i repaired it i took it down to M.O.T and told my insurance co. that i had it m.o.t.d and back on road. Accepted.

Ah Nick, gutted for you :frowning:

But aren’t SVs brilliant fun :stuck_out_tongue:

Hopefully I’ll be able to sort something out. My dad’s a mechanic at a Kawasaki dealer so I’m gonna give him a call and see what he suggests…

I have to agree with you though, Anna - I love the SV. Considering saving up to get one when all this fuss is over with  Would only be able to afford one of the older model ones but I could live with that I think

Mine was a '99, was fab!

I wish I could afford that at the moment. I could get it and then just go hungry for the next few months I suppose…

Sounds like a good plan to me :stuck_out_tongue:
