Luckily I’ve now got a parking spot, but it does wind me up and if ever I see anyone do it I “have a word” - we should all do that if we see it happening. It is usually, at least in the City from my experience, scooter boys who arrive late and want to re-arrange the bay for their convenience and don’t seem to realise that, with a bike, you can’t magically jump on the bike without being at the side. Many a time I’ve moved the scooter into the road, to be able get on my bike, and left it there, which might get them thinking in future. There’s no answer though - some people just don’t give a toss and that’s it.

Yeah underground parking is a godsend, I wouldnt fancy trying to park in any bays around W1 after 9 in the morning:hehe:
im lucky enough to be able to park my bike on site round the back of the dealership, although it doesnt stop the polish valeters parking something like a Mercedes GL rite in front on the bike bay meaning about 8 bikes cant leave work until we manage to trace who has the key :crying:

Oh, if it only it were so easy! :PLet’s not forget that TFL don’t make any money on the current bike bays… So, why would they give up the car parking bays that make revenue, to the tune of £4 per hour each bay, to let more bikes park for free? ;)What would you do in their situation? 
I have (had) a brand new FZ6’07 last summer, first bikebay, ding out of the side of the tank from a scooterer trying to squeeze his in. Second time in a bay scratch on the other side of the tank. Nearly a year on and the bikes so battered i dont give a monkeys anymore. Some people have no respect.

what i dont understand is why only a fraction of the motorcycle bay’s in london have railings on the back to loop chains into…
if you were a bike theif you’d just keep a list of these bay’s where bikes are left without being secured to street furniture and its just easy pickings.
ive never moved or bumped bikes but i have once or twice gone into a tight gap [turned my mirrors in] just because i’d rather chain it up than leave it in the bay beside it and let someone carry it away.
and on that note why do people who do not chain their bikes, still choose to use the bay’s with railings…just because they may not want to lock it up, somebody who does is denied the opportunity to secure their bike.
…hmm i might wirte to westminister and ask for more of these around my uni…of the 4 massive bays beside my campus only one has the railings…bit annoyin!
Came back to my bike which i had parked in a bay in Flood St. to find it had been wheeled with the steering lock on into the road and left there,i remember it being next to an old scooter with Italian plate,now looking out for it so that i can burn it.
Let me just get one thing straight. I had this discussion with another biker only yesterday.
I used to ride a scooter and when I parked it in the bays in London more than often I would find it back moved from where it originally was. Often scooter riders get the blame but what really happens is some ct on a big bike needs a space, can’t quite fit it in, spots a scoot, thinks “that’s doesn’t weigh much”, moves it into another bike. The owner of the other bike comes back, sees a scoot against theirs, thinks "fking scooter w**king sc*m, I’d better move it in the road or, push it over, or push it away".
I went through centre stands on the old PX like lightbulbs when I would park in Covent Garden every day, and it was not because of me moving it around on it stand!!
Once I actually got a parking ticket because somebody had moved it out the line.
Whoever you are, if I’d see you moving a scooter in the road and leave it there, I don’t care who you are, but I’ll have a word. Not your property, hands off!! You want respect for your bike, give respect to other bikes whether you like them or not!!
Last time my bike was moved both Jackie’s and my bikes had been moved - mine was about four feet forward of where it had been and Jackie’s was a couple of feet to the side so a 1200 could be moved between. We noticed this biker hovering around as we talked about what had been done to our bikes (quite an achievement given what they weigh) when he eventually walked over and sheepishly apologised! At least he had the guts to do that. My office overlooks two large central London bays and believe me- it is nearly always the BMW and the 70’s rat bike owners that move the scooters and not the other way round.
Someone should invent aftermarket lockable centre stands - esp. for the smaller, lighter bikes that stand the greatest chance of getting moved. And cameras covering bike bays’d be a far better way of spending charge-bay revenue, I reckon, as it’d help trace the people who do ding your tank etc for insurance purposes.
Serious question - What makes you so sure that the bike/scooter rammed up against your bike is at fault. Often it’s the rider who’s bike/scoot is parked 2or3 places further along who has bumped the bikes so that he can squeeze his into the bay.
