I am meeting a few friends this evening in Covent Garden and was planning on parking in the bay on Bedford Street (opposite All Bar One).
I know this falls in the F Zone which they are now charging for. Having problems with the computer at work today and can’t seem to download any of the pdf files on the Westminster website, does anyone use this bay and would you be able to tell me what times the charges apply from.
If its anything like normal parking, most charges end at 630pm.I walk past that one everyday walking into work, obviously need to raise my vision a bit:D
Just looked at the site and the only thing I cannot find are hours of operation, saw that the £1.50 fee is per day and you can move around other bays in Westminster without extra charge. Not relevant to you I know!!
The charges end at 7pm,(I think it also starts at 7am but could be 7:30 am)and you only need to pay at bays which have the parking fees and telephone numbers displayed on the post next to them. Most have these sins now including most of zone F now.
All the boards I have read say charging ends at 6.30 - what ends at 7pm is the existence of the bay. From 7pm parking is free - but it is also free for cars so -
I think you’re right, I’m just going out, so I’ll take another look.
So glad Westminster made it all nice a simple and clear for us :w00t:
I was reading one of the signs only this morning, and was disapointed they have let the cat outta the bag about letting cages park on bike bays, don’t think many knew that before.
Punk if you have had a chance to have a look, could you possibly PM me. I would be getting there about 6pm, might have to keep myself busy at work for 1/2 hour to miss the charge.
This should help Neets and everyone else thinking of parking in Westminster, god knows why it’s not clearly shown on the Westminster site.
Also you’re not far from Camden (Sorry not Camden, I meant Southwark), so you may want to park there and walk to Covent Garden, I’ll PM you if you don’t see this.
Certainly enough signs up, probably going to have to use the bike parking fees just to pay for the new signage before they can acutally improve the security in the bays.
and Neets, if you decide to go free, this is probably your nearest one to bedford street:
Mepham Street, Lambeth
By the main entrance to Waterloo Station. This is a designated cycle park but with spaces behind used by motorbikes. Use your discretion.
size: medium
type: pavement
And what if you don’t have a mobile phone? They can’t force everyone to have a mobile phone simply because they charge via mobile phone. This is discrimination against those who don’t have a mobile phone. Discrimination is illegal in this country. Equal opportunities must be given to everyone and Westminster is not above the law or exempt from following the legislation.
