I don’t have a video player - only dvd player! you’ll get the disc back + a drink!

But bewarned, you need a piece of paper over the screen to cover the results. I have no idea why MotoGP.com do this.

I stopped using that - for exactly that reason!!!

Idiots - you should get a job on their site and sort it out jay!

i use the old paper trick too…thats if the tv/radio/mrs hasn’t ruined it for me already

Motogp.com is a very very crap site…With an uintuitive clunky interface and very very bad design…Like selecting a video or paying for a video…So many times I’ve bought the wrong media because the site is not clear about what you’re buying.

Crap…I wish Jay would get a job there and sort out the sh*t.

Sean…I’ll record it if you want…I’m at the Brighton HipHop festival so will miss the race.

A tip for you though…Invest in a Freecom DVB-T USB stick for your PC…Records digital TV and radio…Video is DVD quality and the software has a timer system that records when you st it. It’s only £29.99 from PC World.

Another tip…Ditch the software that comes with the stick and order DVB Viewer online from these German developers…Video quality is better and has so many features…Software is only 15 Euros.

Cheers Afro!!

Johnny - don’t think i can wait that long - but cheers!

So afro - you going to bust a move at the hip hop festival!!

No worries bro . . . lemmie know if you change ur mind

I’d recommend getting a Hauppage card, not too sure about the software that comes for *indows but you could go the next step and get yourself Linux and MythTV (all FREE). TV, Music, DVD etc streaming all round the house

And freeview is only broadcast in mpeg2 and isn’t DVD quality but you’ll struggle to notice unless you have a massive 50" TV

Or is that far too geeky?!?!?!

Ummmm - I have a HD 50" plasma!!

Alright for some! Surely HD Sky+ would be a good idea?!?

Back on topic though, Afro’s suggestion is a good one. It’ll record to an mpeg file that you can burn to a DVD very easily and the watch on your big TV…

Cheers! Tv is great, waiting for sky to come and install the HD box & broadband! They have delayed me once already!!

I’ve got a DVB receiver for my lapop… and it is good… has eletronic programme guide (which it uses for timer recording) and even screen grabbing capabilities (useful for getting screen shots of when things go wrong on tv - OR your fave shot of a film / tv show that you want to get a copy of)

… only cost me £50 from PCWorld too

BUT: downside is that you do need a good signal for it to work properly

I thought signal was bad in surbiton till I tried watching TV through a freeview (DVB) box in my folks in suffolk - unwatchable: perhaps someone will tell the digital tv folk that they need to improve their coverage before they turn analog off…

… I know hauppage do a dual DVB / analog USB stick… but I dont know anyone who’s got one…

Mate…

The video encoder / decoder used for DVD video is MPEG-2.

Maybe you are talking about bitrates and yes, Freeview probably uses a lower bitrate than DVD which can be in excess of 8 Mbits/s.

Check the DVD specification here

The Freecom Freeview USB stick I got was £29.99 from PC World…Factor in DVB Viewer at 15 Euros and it’s still cheaper than the Happauge card.

People having problems with reception may want to move their mobile phones as far away from the system as possible as mobiles share the same bandwidth and causes stutters in the video.

DVB Viewer is fantastic software.

Afro…peace out.

PS. Sean…You may see me bounce slightly at the festival, but that’s most likely due to my ever expanding belly rather than any form of dancing…Oh yeah…I need blue fairings mate

They seriously haven’t got a clue about their website. It’s got TONS of potential but they squander it with a lame website, lame strategy and even lamer technology. I’ll have a chat with Fred next time we see him
