MOT with warped discs?

Can you fail an mot for warped discs?

I guess there are different degrees to the condition but mine are not too bad, i notice them every now and then but they dont really bother me so ive not got round to soring them out yet, got the mot in a few weeks and though i best check before it gets failed

YES!! that will fail (assuming badly warped) take it to PTA croydon though they will pass anything!

Obviously depends on how bad it is, but mine passed with ever so slightly warped discs.

just take it for the mot and if it fails on em they will give you an advisory to get em done and bring it back.

i reckon if not too bad will pass anyway, they normally check wear on em and then brake affectiveness.

One of the X9s we have owned had a warped front RH disk. You could tell as at low speed it used to make the pads rattle. It passed two MOTs like that.

cheers guys,

mines not too bad so i think it will be okay, will take it to carbontek near purley,

they are pretty lax with mots so i should be okay

+1

The MOT doesn’t check the discs for warping, only the effectiveness of your brakes.

As long as the brakes pass, you will receive an advisory for a pulsing brake lever.

Having warped discs alone will not be a fail if the braking efficiency etc is ok.

I had this once (the bike passed the MOT by the way) and asked if it was a warped disc. He said its not for them to say unless I pay to have it checked.

I went home and eventually found out the wheel was buckled from a previous owner
