Rather than going through the endless and utterly chaotic pile of papers under my desk, I thought I’d ask you lot.
Do they notify me when I need to renew my MOT, like with the tax disc, or do I have to remember myself…?

You need to remember yourself.
as above - you need to remember - i have been driving around with no MOT for 2 months and then got pulled by a copper!!!argh next day i went and got my MOT done, hopefully the courts will be nice to me
Oooh bugger… thanks guys, better check out me paperwork…GULP! And me bank account , doh!
If it’s any help, I’m pretty sure that MOT testing centres can just use your reg no. to tell when your previous MOT expires/expired (at least, that’s what mine told me when I had one last month).
I asked him whether I needed to bring any paperwork to show when the last MOT runs out. He said “No. We can see all that using our computer at the garage”
So maybe you can save yourself some paper-chasing by calling an MOT test centre and getting them to have a look for you?
Just a thought, and I’ve never done it myself, but it might be a time-saving approach for you.
(My insurance and MOT run out at the same time, so my insurance reminder works as an MOT reminder, which is lucky for me because I’m prone to forget things like this)
That can be a bu88er. Any two, or all three bit of paper running out at the same time. You can’t be leagal and insured without the MoT and the tax. You can’t get the tax without the MoT and insurance, you can’t ride to the MoT station without the insurance. (But you can without tax.)
I’ve off set mine. The MoT is now due on my birthday, the insurance follows a fortnight later, the tax (for which I generally get a reminder) is due about six months after the both.
I can cope with a system like that.
Hope you have a happy birthday!
