Has anyone noticed that mobile-phone company adverts always follow the same format?
- Modern-yet-retro setting of indeterminate time-period.
- America, but possibly with British cars. Maybe on the wrong side of the road.
- Young people with trendy haircuts.
- Autumnal light treatment.
- A train of events - possibly involving rainbows, stuff being passed between people (again, possibly rainbows) and/or buildings transforming into stuff.
- A flying object - probably a butterfly or something small and cute. People follow it.
- Soundtrack consisting of a single woman (possibly from mainland Europe) singing an innocent-sounding, plinky-plonky tune, accompanied by an acoustic guitar or piano.
And that’s all of them . That ad agency must be cleaning up!
What would you lot do instead of all that?
