Was coming home last night through Harringay, nearly at Turnpike Lane, had reached the lights where West Green Road joins Green Lanes. They went green as I got there so I went through in the left lane but nosing out to turn right from the road on the left was an unmarked police car with its siren going and a temporary blue light on the roof so I stopped to let out, instead of which he stopped too and a second later I realised why when I was hit up the back by a bloke in a Nissan and shoved across the junction and almost into the island the other side. He’d not seen the police car, missed the blue light, not heard the siren and failed to spot a Honda with its brakes on in front of him, just registered a green and sailed through. Somehow I stayed on and managed not to hit anything. Parked up and exchanged details etc, even got a witness when a delivery bloke in a van came over and gave me his card. Picked up the bits and rode home, took the back end apart, couldn’t believe it. Virtually no damage, the only thing broken beyond recovery is the number plate which had snapped across the line of the bolt holes. All the impact went into the plastic rear mudguard/lamp unit which bent up and sprang back, seat frame is straight, all the bodywork lines up. The tail unit was a bit crazed where it had deformed so swapped it for my spare (!), put it all back. Phoned Nissan driver who was in Winchmore Hill, conveniently, an hour later he was at my gaff giving me a £20 note for a new plate. Result! Araldite and gaffer tape holding the old one together till I get a replacement. Put in a new fuel pump while the seat was off, after 10 by the time I finished. Tea, sarnies and bed cos by then I was knackered. Interesting evening!
Appropriately for the time of year, he’s behind you!!! Oh yes he is.
