Ok, so good old Bennetts have just sent my renewal notice, and after a year of biking, earning myself 1 yrs NCB and having done Bikesafe they have decided that they’d like to increase my premium by about £200!!
I have had a look around and the cheapest I’ve found is MCE which actually works out to about £200 cheaper than Bennetts charged me for my 1st year!!
Question is, what are MCE like, I have seen some posts about them, both good and bad so I am not sure!!
Can anyone help? or maybe even suggest some other good companies?
I’m using MCE. They are very competitive with pricing … £380 fully comp (inc. legel expenses, national breakdown and protected NCB) for a ZX12R and Fireblade in EC1. However, I’ve never had to make a claim, and hopefully I never will.
Their service isn’t perfect, had to get details adjusted twice after the 2 policies didn’t match my details 100%.
However they didn’t increase the premium as one mistake should have cost me more. I find they’re the cheapest. Online quotes cheaper than over the phone.
Im with Aquote (under written by norwich union) so is my son when i phoned up for him . 17 aprillia rs 125 they qouted 1240 , i asked if thats there best price and got a reply 640, fullycomp!! worth asking for the best price
never had any hassle with them , I insure my k6 gsxr for 230 fullycomp and upto 3 bikes for just 20 quid each same cover
i was with mce years ago before my accident and they paid out quiet quickly even after i refused the first offer , just last year aquote where cheaper and the year before so i went with them
Got a good price from them for my 1st year (the best at that time) - had no issues with them but come renewal time the quote they sent me was higher than I previously paid and when I looked around other people were cheaper, finally settled with H&R and so far so good.
The first year my insurance was with Honda, as I got a deal when I bought the bike, and the second year I changed to Carole Nash, and it was cheaper than the first year.
It is cheaper to get it online, and then amend on the phone, as long as you put something in the notes screen - changes were foc.
Call the fisrt company and tell them their quote is ridiculous and that rival companies are offering you the same policy for £xxx less. Askt hem if they can match/beatit or do you need to change insurers. A lot of them count on us taking the easy option and just accepting the renewal quote.
When I got my renewal quote from Carole Nash, they quoted about £200 more than the previous year, so I thought that I would see what the quote would be if I did it straight on the internet site. The internet quote was £250 cheaper than the renewal quote, so I rang Carole Nash to find out what was going on.Apparently they can do just internet quotes with certain insurancers, and they can’t offer them on the phone or as a renewal! So keep surfing!
