Maybe I won't be getting that porsche I wanted next year!!

So maybe I won’t be swapping my astra for a porsche next year!!

So my car is a 98 plate, does anyone know if my road tax is calculated on engine size (1.6) or emissions, I was under the impression that only cars registered after 2001 went on emissions.

Just been reading that myself … and having to do some research as the article certainly is not clear on how car age relates to these rates - apparently if your car was first registered before March 2001 then emission-based rates will not apply.

Cheers

Just checked the DVLA’s website, yep, my car was registered before March 2001 so based on engine size, they’ll probably do something about this soon though.

I’m sure they will

I just checked and my car will go up by 60%,b@stards.

My car tax next year is going up from £165 now to £264 another £99.

I`m not happy.

Thank goodness for that - my car was registered in 1986, and still likes a drop of four-star when it can get it.

I’d probably go bankrupt if my tax went up! :hehe:

Hopefully at the next election Labour will get the boot. I read on Pistonheads that Gordon Brown wants all petrol powered cars gone & replaced with electric/hybrid by 2020! It just wont happen!
