I was doing about 50 mph on my cbr on the A40 and this suzuki GXSR rider (mad man) with a small kid clinging to him was weaving through traffic at about 70 mph with no leathers. I was very shocked and was worried for the kids safety. How can he be so irresponsible, I am sure it was not his own kid.

They are just plonkers that think they are ‘cool’…more like uncool!
Why? Possible “Poor Hazard Perception”. If he was riding like a “Mad Man”. He prolly does it when he’s on his own cause vital hazards are going unnoticed? 
I’m pretty cautious when I ride on my own but when I have a pillion, particularly my kids, the responsibility weighs very heavily on me. It worries me to see people riding like knobs when they have pillions, particularly kids.
I don’t have any kids, but whenever i take a pillion i ride very, very differently. I take no risks whatsoever and concentrate on staying smooth so i don’t frighten them. Gentle acceleration, very light braking and smooth gear changes. Main reason for this is that i don’t want to have to phone a friends family to explain why they’re dead or seriously injured, i couldn’t live with the guilt, especially if it was down to foolhardy or careless riding on my part. If you’re on your own, no problem but don’t ride like a nob when you’re responsible for another persons life, thats unforgiveable.
Another reason is that whenever i take a pillion its often a friend who doesn’t ride or has never been on a bike so i want to give them a pleasurable experience, not scare the bejesus outta them. If they enjoy it, they might even consider taking their test and buying a bike, scare the **** out of them and they’re likely to perpatuate the myth that we’re all nutcases who shouldn’t be allowed on the roads.
I also hate being a pillion passenger, it terrifies me, scares the crap out of me, makes me an absolute nervous wreck, can’t stand not being in control.
