Low speed off today

BIKE: Scratched front mudguard, Indicator and end of handlebar. No other damage that I can see. Will have a better look tomorrow.

ME: Scraped knee Ouch, and Badly bruised Shoulder double ouch.

Stupid me, coming up for corner braked and the bike just went from under me. Wallop down on my left side quick as a flash. Only doing about 10/15 mph but landed hard. Got back on and rode home about 10 miles. Shoulder was pretty painful. So went and had an xray up A&E just in case. Nothing broken just badly bruised so home and all is fine. Pretty annoyed with myself though. What a wally.

Oh no! :frowning: Really sorry to hear that.

At least you haven’t done yourself any permanent damage…

Ouch… glad it’s nothing serious, look upon it as experience!

Why did the bike go ? Did you front brake in a corner or did you slip on some diesel or something ?

Not sure what caused it. Road was tiny country lane and very worn. Hadn’t quite got to the corner. Can’t remember using front break at all, did use back break though. Wish I could remember cos I wouldn’t do it again

Was riding like a tw** anyway had trouble stalling all morning. Just couldn’t get it together. Just one of those days I guess.

Sorry to hear of your off, glad to read you are OK though.

It is good to try and work out what happened, it seems strange that the bike would fall from underneath you if you only used the back brake and were upright, might even be a mechanical failure of somesort, so check the bike again, or you hit some deisel on the road, which, if you did use the front and it caught, would easily send the bike down…

All experience, take your time, it will come eventually.

Ouch, gonna ache today by the sounds of it. If the handle bars took a knock might be worth checking that they are still true.

Sounds just like when I hit diesel. Just a touch of front brake and down!! It happens so quickly!!

ooooch sorry to hear that. Get some creams and stuff for your bruises…

Then fix ya bike!

sorry to hear this Niff.

Glad you’re not too badly hurt.

it all counts as experience

Oh No! New bike aswell! Really sorry to hear that you’ve taken a tumble.

The only consolation I can offer is that those days we can all have where we can ride like a tw*t can be quickly offset by those days where you become part of your machine and ride like a genius! I wish you many more of the those!

ouch! glad you’re ok though and relatively unscathed.

Thanks for the good wishes. I will take your advice and check the bike carefully before riding it again. Might be a while though. Shoulder is a stiff as board today but only painful if I move it. Knee is very pretty colour’s  pretty sure all will be fixed in a few days.

Daughter was following on right behind on her bike and said, she blinked and I was down already there was no spillage on the road but there was an awful lot of what looked like fine dust or crop dust from the fields either side. As I approached the corner a four wheel drive came around and I moved closer to the edge of the road to make room for it to pass. Although I thought I was still a least a foot away from it. I may have caught the dust and down I went. We can’t think what else would have caused it. I certainly wasn’t at the point of needing to turn into the corner or leaning. As I say its all guess work. Bike rode home with no problem. Cheeky daughter said my riding home was the best I had rode all day. Hmmm makes me wonder if I wasn’t a bit over confident earlier in the day. I have to ask myself was I approaching a tad to fast and braked to sharply. Wish I could remember. Well all is well so no great harm. A lesson well learnt don’t fall off :hehe::pinch:

Glad to hear your pain is superficial! Heal up soon and rest well.

It happens to everyone…

hope you and bikie gws x

Oh but you look so good, even when your kissing the tarmac girl :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry to hear about that Niffer - but it happens to practically everyone that rides a bike sooner or later (and often more than once!). I lost the front on some diesel last Friday - bikes are like new shoes - sooner or later they’re gonna get scuffed! My bikes have both got battle scars - I think it lends them charachter!

Thanks everyone for the support. Today I took a trip out to the lane where I came off . Shoulder still sore so went in the husbands cage. I just had to go and try and figure out what I did wrong. Taking a look at where it happened it looks very much like I leant the bike over to far for the speed I was doing to take the corner and leant beyond the point of no return. Opps. I could still see the scratches on the road surface where I went down and I was definitely on the bend and not before it as I thought. Just goes to show how memory can be wrong. I am relieved to know what caused it, even though it was my own fault as now I can remember NOT to do it again :hehe::smiley: Really sick about the dent in my fuel tank though. The left indicator has been pushed onto the tank and put a small dent in it. Cant afford a new tank so it may have to stay there:(
