It’s where the villains move there mothers to once they’ve made good.
Come to Lagos. I regularly leave my bike with no lock, just stick it under a tree. It doesn’t even have a key to start - so anyone could jump on and ride.
You need to live somewhere where the locals are trust worthy individuals who respect others’ property.
That, or the consequences for theft are a lynching and necklacing by the locals…
my ex lives on top of shooters hill just below the old water tower, i must say i’m quite impressed with the area. he lives in a 2bed flat with concrete garage for not more than 900 per month.
Aaaaah. the good old necklacing! turning perps into jesus since tyres were made…well, at least into a pile of burnt goo ![]()
Its pretty simple as the guys from londons bike theft said to me. 85% of bikes stolen in london end up south of the river. He said if you dont want your bikes nicked, stay north!
On the side note if you need to borrow the van to move you can
Don’t want to put you off, but Frieda of mine sold their chiselhurst house for the same reason you want to move. House was broken in, valuables taken, including keys to brand new car and 2 sports bikes, which just got driven away. All this happened when the whole family was sleeping.
all I’m saying is that I don’t think it matters where you live in London, if you have stuff that’s worth stealing, there’s a chance someone will try to have it.
On a side note, have you considered Lee (se12)? It’s walking distance from Blackheath and loads of 1930s houses with attached garages. Don’t know what rental prices are like though.
Chislehurst is a lovely area, just ask any Pikey, they all love it. pop down to St Mary’s Cray, Star Lane, to get an idea of the sort of people living nearby.
You right JJon I once knew a nasty piece work that lived that neck of the woods
He would steal from his own mother, ho I forgot he did!
I just want a quiet street not one where chavs walk past all day long
get out of London then
Chavs are everywhere, I have seen posh chavs.
Every area has shady people. Even the nice areas have there problems.
I would say take a look around the area day and night. Hopefully that will give a bigger picture.
Got a place in the lake district with a garage.
3 bedrooms, 2 receptions, large garden` ideal for BBQ.
For you and Claire, £200.00 a month as long as you pay the bills and mow the lawn. (Top of the range mower and strimmer + hedge cutter provided)
Garage space for 4+ bikes.
One bedroom ( double) to be kept clean and tidy for owners visits.
Minimal crime risk, sea view.
Ideal base for buisness opportunity along the lines of Lakes /Dales tours.
Have a look at some of the villages outside Dartford, 5 mins from the A2, 30 mins tops to Blackheath as traffic doesn’t start building until Sun & Sands so come off at Kidbrooke and take the back roads. 3 bed semi’s rent for about £800 per month, a bit more if you want a garage. Personally I wouldn’t worry about the garage just look for a house with access to rear garden, get yourself a dog flap and a Rottie and with the money you’ll save by not renting in London you could easily afford to pay £50 per week for a dog walker to walk it an hour each day. Even better go for a 2 bed house and don’t share:)
why not try an get something closer to were I live something like King’s Orchards, Wythfield RD, oke houses quiet and safe, I am unfortunate enough to keep my bike on the street for over 4 months and fortunately it’s still there
