after receiving more info today The event is being held over the weekend of 8th and 9th May and the actual abseil takes place from the top of 20 Cabot Square which is a building within the Canary Wharf area - and is 230’ tall!
have decided that …sod it im game for a laugh
so will sort out sponsorship page etc asap once registration has been submitted ( may take few days atm)… so if you fancy parting with various amounts of money …
think my largest true abseil ( about seventeen years ago ) was 120 foot
We can safely say that we’ll both be giving this one a miss. (Having a big birthday celebration that weekend and may not be in London - if we are we’ll be too ill to take part)
I’m seriously thinking about doing this:w00t::w00t: now the question is who will sponsor me to do it, and how much;) please remember i dont like heights so if thiers not many sponsors i’m of the hook:D
Well done on taking the first step towards abseiling the 230’ of 20 Cabot Square, Canary Wharf, over the weekend of 8th and 9th May 2010!
I have enclosed a registration form with this letter. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Send the form back to me at the address above – along with your £25 registration fee – and your place will be secured. There are only 180 places during the weekend so the sooner you send it back the better! We are then asking everyone to raise a minimum of £250 sponsorship.
All abseilers must be over 16 years old and although there are no rules about medical conditions, if you think we might need to be aware of any illnesses or disabilities you might have, please let me know on your form.
There will be two abseil lines with 45 people going down each one, so in total 90 people will abseil each day. Please indicate on your registration form which day and time you would prefer. Do be aware that this is only a guideline and you will receive confirmation of your abseil time nearer the event. The only thing that could stop this fantastic event going ahead would be extreme strong winds.
You will get training beforehand and there will be people around to answer any questions you might have. The actual abseil is run by a company called Over The Edge Adventures – check out their website for more information:
Looks like we have two up for it, lets try and get some more…anyone else not scared of heights want to join in the fun? If you are interested click the orig link or the one in Tims post, you have to do it directly with them.
