Once upon a time, there was one bike show in London;
the MCN Road Racing & Superbike show at Ally Pally.
Then in 2006 (if memory serves me), after many years
monopoly, the MCI created a rival show - the 020 show
at the Excel centre.
The latter was killed off… only for the old show to
decide to move home in 2007 (I think)… to the Excel
centre, where the new show used to live.
Then, just as we got used to the idea, a new show
sprang up… at Ally Pally, which is where the old show
was formerly housed. Confused?
So this year we have…
The MCN Motorcycle show Feb 15-17 in Excel.
The Ally Pally Motorcycle show 20-21 April.
Anyone like to comment on differences / similarities
between shows?
Or point me to an existing topic if this has already
been discussed?
so wrong, yes the ally pally has always been on the go but there has been a london bike show in may guises for yrs, use to be at earls court/or olympia, i remember going when was about 16 ish/1986, cant remember wot happened but next i remember it been at the docklands (not the excel, the other 1 i cant remember the name, lol).
but there has always been a main show just like there was a main car show, that covered the main bike dealers etc, i think originally ally pally show was for road and race only but prgressed a bit
recentley they were 2 different type of show too, again excel been for maindstream bikes and dealers and ally pally classic and custom more so but it seems the excel show this yr has nicked a main part of what use to be at ally pally, the AMD custom show.
From their web pages…
Due to circumstances beyond our control we have
had no option but to postpone the Ally Pally London
Motorcycle Show from Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st April
until Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th September 2013
