led indicators very dim

ive had led indicators on my mark one fazer 600 for over a year, and took them off to put an undertray on. Wired them back in, but they are really, really dim, you can barely see them. I have the headlight mod done, and when i switch the headlights off, the indicators go really bright.

I have the resistors wired in parallel so they flash at correct speed, when wired in series they flash bright, but too fast

any suggestions?

I dont understand why switching the hadlights off should make any difference, as leds only require a tiny current so its not like the twin headlight mod is draining all the power

PM barro, he’s got some flux capacitors that’ll sort it.

hello mate i work in a bike shop we get so many of the led boys/girls coming back and saying they have probs with them.

i run allycators on mine they have small bulbs in amd are bright, and flash at the right speed.

to be honest, im thinking of chucking them in favour of something with bulbs again

though, interestingly, ive just installed leds as the brake lights, and when the engine is idling they flicker, but when i rev the engine, they get brighter and dont flicker, like the indicators, could it be a prob with coil on the bike?

Your battery or charging system sounds dicky. Had a fazer with LED indicators and LED stop/tail light, completely flicker free.

any idea how i can check this?

With a multimeter.

Also, check all connectors, and check your earth points for good contact/no corrosion.

It sounds to me like you’ve got a dodgy earth wire that goes to your tail unit. It may be another wire, but as its affecting rear light and indicators, its most likely the earth. Its multi-meter time … give me a shout if you need a hand.

Agree with Ton Up and SP. Probably an iffy earth connection. Beyond that I’d be flummoxed…
