Leathers - too small ?

I bought a 2 piece suite yesterday but the jacket felt slightly too small. The trousers were fine if a bit snug but the jacket pulled a bit under my arms and on the inside of the elbows when I bent my arms. It’s also very tight across my chest.

Is this normal ? The shop said it would stretch a bit and the last trousers I had did by almost a full size but the jacket does feel too small.

How do you tell the difference between what is too small and what’s snug and as it should be once it’s stretched a bit after a couple of weeks ?

You could go on a diet.

My leathers are always snug… but I’m a fat knacker anyway

When you first got them did they feel really too small or just snug ? How much did they stretch over a few months ?

It’s difficult to quantify on here but they do slacken off a bit at the joints.

If you wear them every day I guess it would take a month or two for them to feel lived in.

If I was you I’d get in touch with WASP as she is a leathers expert by all accounts

Guess your gonna find this a lot with different brands of leathers? some claim to be your size and yet they are way too small…some of the sporty leathers DO tend to fit snugger…ive got a set of the hein gericke celtics, and they are not really comfy, well not the jacket anyway…trs are fine…in fact i like em a lot…but the hein gericke “streetline” suit is really nice to wear…ive got a frank thomas all in one which is snug, and i dont like to feel so restricted?

Ive heard Dianese come up small in sizes as well, havent got any myself so cant say…Wolfe are said to be good though? All leathers will give in time…some go TOO baggy…its swings and roundabouts till you find the sort you are comfy with …

Did i hear my name!! You could try wearing it in for a couple of weeks to see if it will loosen up try early morning ride with a fleece jumper on under it! Otherwise you could have stretch panels put in at the tight points(not to hard to do)

Hmm, maybe you could take a look at my jacket and see what u can do with that ? I was thinking of getting rid of it, maybe i could get rid of the hard armour and put softer in…that might help soften it a bit…

Blade …Leathers are easily made to stretch and fit if you put stretchy panels in at the tight points and the same to tighten them up just remove the bagginess it’s not expensive either just time consuming but thats when i end up with a house full of bikers and someone on kettle duty waiting for me to finish sewing their leathers… Maybe i should start doing saturday morning surgery to repair/alter peoples leathers!

Well id make an appointment mate !!!

Thanks, maybe I’ll try them for a few weeks and if they’re not stretching enough see about visiting Wasp to put some stretch panels in, sounds a good idea. Just hate the idea of spending so much money on something that’s uncomfortable.

The jacket zip has already broken so they need to go back for a replacement, only had them a day.

Out of interest what make are they and where from?

Dainese from Bike Stop in Stevenage

Aahhh Dianese…that explains it…Over priced cheaply made CRAP

and i should know…i ve taken them apart enough times to see how cheap and nasty they are

I think I might too - mine are getting a bit too baggy

I can believe it. I shouldn’t have bought it, I knew it was a bad idea but I needed some for this week. I was planning to get a set of Hideout leathers but there’s a two month wait for made to measure and that’s the end of the summer. I’m still going to get a set, just maybe over the winter.

If your zip is shagged after a couple of days can’t you get a refund?

Hideout are the nuts mate and well worth the wait,.

They do have quite a stock of off the peg leathers there too.

Have a word with Kate at Hideout, I’m sure she would be able to sort you out pretty sharpish

Hideout are good better quality leather,Scott made to measure are good to but they have a waiting list cos they fit yer perfectly oh and they are “oop norf” somewhere!

I hear that Crowtree are packing up soon and so are MW in East Ham

WASP , you seem to be one of a dieing breed

you should have bought both in a larger size and just kept eating until they fit you…much, much easier than going on a silly diet.
