Leathers to tumble in

Hi All,

If you had to take a tumble in an off the peg leathers what make, model would it be?

I recently was hit from behind by a hit and run driver and broke my collar bone, 3 ribs, ankle, etc etc

I now need a new set and want to insure I’m in the very best kit (protection per £).

All thoughts welcome

Best regards

J

I bought Dainese last year and they look OK but after 16k miles two zips have broken and some of the stictching looks like it’s starting to come loose. Not tried anything else.

If I was buying another set of leathers I’d only go to Hideout near Saffron Walden, they produce several sets of leathers which can be made to measure and just looking at them and feeling the leather shows they are in a different class from anything else I’ve seen. Just a completely different approach to making a suit, even the leather is taken from the inner layers of the cow hide where it’s more supple and stronger. The whole suite is to a CE standard, not just the protection. All hand made.

Not cheap but should last a lot longer than a cheaper suit.

Hello and welcome:D:D:D

Thansk guys!

Any thoughts on Berik LS1 suits?

Regards

No idea what they’re like but Hideout have a basic off the peg suite which is reasonably priced, might be worth going to have a look just so you know what to look for in other suits ? Sorry to go on about it but I thought Alpinestars would be my next set of leathers but once I saw and felt Hideout I know where my money would go.

Alpinestars…you wont feel a thing:D.

smiled:).

give me £350 you can have my Arlen ness suit!!! Its new £600 suit :P.

Except a highside and landing on your hip will break your pelvis due to there being no padding/protection on the hips. So then you need to invest in some Knox protective shorts that you wear under your leathers. You get what you pay for though.

+1 for Hideout:cool:

i race in a berik suit.

have crashed in it 3 times now and all over 100mph crashes. Even with all my current injuries i didn’t incur any injuries from the crashes. No ripping of the leather or seams, zips are strong and the inner adds additional padding for your hips, back & bum.

have seen alpinestars suits fall apart at the thought of a crash so wouldn’t wear one of them but that might have been a rare suit maybe. the new ‘revit’ suits are the dogs danglies too and a bargain at the price they go for.

technic make strong leathers too. loads of choice really. but no need to spend over 500 smackers really imo.

What size is it? I’m a 40… fingers crossed

On the web they start at £900 and go to £1550…a tiny bit high for me.I’m looking at a max of about £850 now :frowning:

HG have very cheap leathers here http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/products_id/5099

Not really track type leathers but will do the job, CE protectors and space for a back protector. They look a bit like a touring jacket and trousers, but right now the jacket is £170 and the trousers are free with the jacket ! Cheap track day leathers if you’re not going to be doing very many days or just a cheap spare set

don’t know if you are still looking but if it’s any help i’ve have my arlen ness since march 06’ used almost every day and is still lasting well, less that usual wear and tear. semi waterproof and all amour good except back which is too short so use separate back protector (forcefield).
arlen ness feels good and last well.
most important factor is still fit does the amour stay in the right place and does it feel comfortable to wear if not it won’t do its job effectively , or will irritate whilst wearing.

there is also spidi, and it looks very good.
I bought Dainese trouser and the zip got broken after 1 week.
