Have just read the other topic and some of the topics that Ang posted up . . . I don’t want to comment on any of this or be involved with it but I owe Terry and Ben £20 and will give it to then when I see them, I don’t use PayPal to pay for anything, especially charitable donations like this.
I would recommend http://www.justgiving.com/ for raising money, the advantage being that they can collect the Gift Aid tax rebate on the money for you, so assuming you’re a tax payer the charity get £12 odd for every £10 donated, after fees. They do charge 5% plus the card processing fees but they also operate a secure payments system, separate bank account etc to make it all safe and as secure as this will ever be. The fund raiser also gets a screen so they can see exactly who had donated what and what the total it, there’s also a page that shows the public the totals received etc.

I’m just as happy to give £20 to Terry or Ben in person but would prefer to use Just Giving because of the tax reclaim so my £20 actually means LAA would get £25.
That sounds like a great idea! It’s a huge overhead for us to co-ordinate and manage charity payments, so this is perfect. I’ve just talked about starting a charity council team within LB from members that can take our fund-raising ability and efficiency to the next level, this compliments that. Thanks fella.
I thought it would be useful, it would take a lot of time to write all the pages necessary and make it secure etc and they’ve already done it all. I guess they might even do a branded version for LB ?
Yeah, “Justgiving” seems the way to go. When we sponsored Pork Scratching’s daughter’s walk it was via that system.
yes good one slaarty that looks sound to me and to have an LB’ers one would be perfect, we could then really make a mark and point people to take a look at what we have all done…its high profile and very professional…and as jay says makes life a lot easier…
How is LB funded anyway…
