I work at a leisure centre and today whilst I was at work I was dealing with a customer complaint when I saw my poor Fazer sprawled on the floor.
I park it by the front of reception so that I can keep an eye on it during the day but that didn’t stop someone from a group of kids try to sit on the bike and topple it over. All the right side was damaged along with a ding in the tank! I ran out to it and picked it up by this time it had been on its side for 20 minutes and no one came in to reception to say it was like that. Guess that’s what you get for working in Hayes.
After consulting the CCTV it shows the kids standing around laughing for a couple of minutes before doing a runner down the street! I don’t know if I’ll catch them I’ve got their faces because they came in for a swim but what should I do, I can’t just demand money from a bunch of 10yr olds!
I think I’ll leave a bike cover at work from now on and whack it over the bike when I’m working, that should hopefully deter any idiots from thinking its a good idea to touch something they can’t afford.
report it to the police. You’ve got CCTV evidence, it should be investigated, it might help you get your money back for the repairs, and you might stop it happening to someone else…
You need to hatch a plan for the next time the little blighters coming swimming! A few times I’ve come back to my bike to find parents sitting toddlers on the seat (scratchscratchdentdent)
Me: “Excuse me, what are you doing on my bike”
Them (same both times): “He’s just having a sit, only 3 years old etc etc!!”
next time the kids come in grab them and make them call their parents to come down and pay for the damages , take photos and if u can keep cctv to show parents , i think they will probably stay clear of the leisure centre for a week or so until they thnk they got away with it
Defo report it to the police, take the stance that it is vandalism. Although it probably isn’t criminal, they deserve an ASBO (no disrespect to ASBO the LB). The parents should pay for their vile offsprings misdemeanours.
report and sue them and get the money from their home insurance, everyone in the house is insured so there… or should be… if they have their own place (I am talking about the parents)
I have this at school sometimes, the scrotty little year 7’s - 10’s who think they are all hard run out at lunch times and sit on it, making bike noises and ‘revving’ the engine. Before Christmas they managed to knock it over and that cracked the rear fairing, as well as bent my bar end. What annoys me is that the school couldn’t do a thing because the brand new bike sheds obscure the CCTV view of the bike parking.
i always leave it in gear when parked up somwhere like that as well as alarmed that way its less likely to be moved off the side stand and dropped, good luck getting ya money back
Little gits, very sad that the youths of today are such inconsiderate little sods when it comes to other peoples property, keep us updated with getting your money back and getting it sorted.
Thank You for all the replies guys, I’ve addressed the matter with the police and its in their hands. Unfortunately with no details of the children I’m unable to get the police to go round and have a word. Looks like I’ll have to wait for them to come in again so I can take steps towards some form of justice. I only hope i can take their details and resist following Ottomanslap’s advice to drown the buggers:D! The dent on the tank will have to stay however a datatool alarm is in the pipeline to deter any more idiots.
Don’t hold your breath on the police actually doing anything. Once got showered in a barrage of rocks by a group of 10 year olds in Camden while delivering pizza, the police said “what do you want us to do about it? they’re kids. just don’t go there again.”
Only thing that does work is catching them in the act, and smacking the **** out of them. Obviously they haven’t been taught that “if it isn’t yours, don’t touch it”. If there is any music to face, gladly face it, or make sure you don’t get caught. Fight fire with fire, if they insist on being ghetto, be ghetto right back.
That reminds me of the poor sod that came out of tescos to find a man with his kid, who was on his bike (the kid), the man even had the nerve to have a go at the guy, saying his kid nearly fell off while trying to get on the seat !!! :w00t:
