Spotted one of these in Spain the other day and would like to get hold of one…Looked on ebay but only a few parts available… were they an official import to the UK and . if so, where have they all gone??
Cheers

These were an official UK import but sold as well as a pork pie at a Bar Mitzvah:D
There doesn’t seem to be much difference between the W650 and the Triumph Bonneville apart from with the Trumpet you are buying a bit of history:cool:
:D:D I think they look quite good - don’t want an old Triumph again. I must have pushed the one I had further thanI ever rode it. This thing is probably reliable if nowt else?
Haha I know what you mean:DI was refering to the current crop of Bonnies as opposed to the Meridon beasts:D
The w650 seems to be a really faithful tribute to the old bonnie - even more so than triumphs current resurrected bonnie.

+1
Quite like the idea of giving one of these the stripped down ‘bobber’ look.
Be alot cheaper than modifying an old Triumph.
I picked up my trumpet just under 2 months ago,put 1700 miles on it so far .the news ones are far better now .
production, or at least shipments to the UK stopped ion 2003 or 4 not 100% sure…but there are still a few around and dealers do have spares…you dont need ebay…
Right, a bit of Old Fart memory dredging here so full of borrocks, perhaps.
The W650 was an update/reworking of a twenty/thirty year old Kawasaki produced originally to show the English that a parallel twin did not have to be an oil dripping, unreliable crock.
Aimed to catch on to the retro/nostalgia market.
Think it did quite well in some parts of the world but bombed in England as you could get much the same with a Triumph badge on it. (At a much higher cost.)
Remember reading the road tests at the time and it looked a pretty good all round and solid machine. (But what do short term road testers know about long term ownership?)
If you can find a good one at the right price, should be interesting.
Seriously looking for one now but thin on the ground… don’t mind a rough-ish one as I hope to make it look like this over the winter…

I might be bringing a few bikes over from the US do you want me to find you one, any idea how much you want to pay, they have a few over there…
Oh dear.
If he’s going to butcher the thing, he just needs a bit of rough with good running gear.
