ive been bust saving my pennies away for a new bike and i came across this in a shop today its a zxr 750 p1 on a n plate its up for £1995 its got 10,000 on the clock with one previous owner and full history. any feed back on plus and mius points would be of great help

bump

This looks like one I went and looked at in a shop near Luton? One careful elderly owner? It was perched on a wall when I went to have a look which meant that I was able to stare straight up inside and check out the mountains of rust seemingly all over it and considering how many miles it had done I hoped it would have been in better nick. I’m certain it’d had done some winters and not been rinsed after each ride. I didn’t ride it so it could be a great bike but I’d be inclined to hold out for a better example if it is the same one I saw.

Edit: If you’re after a 7R specifically you might have a look round the www.redmonkey.com/7r site where there are bikes for sale and some very knowledgable people.

thanks for the heads up just seen it on a website and it look v clean would you say they were a good bike to buy ie year

To be honest, I can’t really comment. I used to have a P2 (green), now got a P6 (red, less said the better). I personally love the bike, I think they’re iconic and one of the best looking and best sounding sports bikes ever built which is why I’ve got one. You’d be better off asking the question on the site I’ve posted above for some rather more educated feedback though I don’t think much changed from the first to the last model other than colours. They all seem to go rusty pretty easily and the exhaust on my old one had to be replaced after it rotted through which is why I’m a bit adverse to it.

ITS A BIT OF A TOUGH ONE TO GET IN TO HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE SITE

lb comes to the rescuce would have been a long trip to luton to find out that thanks for the info are you looking for a zxr 7 yourself

that sounds like a big price to me…I would be looking to pay no more than 1500 for a good one…and the p1-p3 likely are the best ones to go for…

they are a heavy bike but if you like the calm easy power delivery and the good handling and the lovely sound it produces you will fall in love and never look back…

go look at the zx7r forum www.redmonkey.com loads of people can help on there…

bet I know which shop ya on about, kept my cash in pocket…nuff said

oh so your now admitting that you looked at a kwak…:stuck_out_tongue:

The site can be a bit temperamental but it’s worth persevering. I’ve just bought a P6 hence me having seen that one you were looking at.

For that mileage? I’ve been looking at a few lately and it seemed like the going rate for that sort of mileage, age and from a trader. All the cheaper ones seemed to be in Scotland.

Yup in my mirrors love as per usual :D:D:)

is that as you realised you got the wrong bike, with a tear down your face?:stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve got a 7r - awesome machine for it’s year.

I agree with 2 strokes (hello mate) that £2k is bit high for the that model - I paid £2.2 for a P7 model, with same miles on clock.

As for the bike - it’s a bit lardy, weighs over 220kg, makes about 110bhp with bolt on end can, front end is superb, really likes corners, not flighty at all, will make up to 120bhp with full race system on it, and some tuning work.

Mine has no bother keeping up with other more modern machinery - but that could be due to the rider.

The looks are iconic IMHO, and should keep running and running - no bother with the bike at all. Keep the 6 pot Tokico brake calipers regularly maintained, and maybe keep an eye on the rear shock, anad you’ll be laughing all the way to your nearest track/ bike meet/ country roads etc

To sum up - buy one, you’ll not regret it, but haggle down the price of that one you’ve seen.

Looks like I paid over the odds. Still, very happy.

They do look the nuts - purposeful

The ZX-7R is the bike I wanted, but I do a lot of miles, so needed summat more comfy (bought a zx9 instead). The fron end on the '7 is sublime, but it is heavy and not overly powerful.

Still one of the best looking bikes ever made, though.

Ignore me :hehe:

Bike i just posted is sold

hi killer…hows life…

there amazing bikes i love mine!!! its got a full aprokavich stainless steel exhaughst system on it (Highly recomended sounds soooooooooooo good) i find they do need a bit of TLC but not alot as most people think you can get one for £1300 so i dont know why you want to spend 2g’s on one???

exchanging your R6?
