Just done the Sparkplugs on my 2000 R6-Phew, a fiddly job! Harder than my old ZX6R

So, with the 2001 ZX- it was turn off fuel pump, take off seat, and detach tank. Lift off air filter, pull out HT leads and change plugs.

On the 2000 R6, it differed so much!

Hold tank back with some string after taking off the seat. Loads of extra pipes and breather hoses to deal with when taking off the air filter cover and air filter.

The trouble part was this plastic cover over the sparkplug and ht leads, so fiddly.

Had to take off two side panels, remove the forced air induction pipes, each side, soooooo fiddly under the frame, then the plastic cover was removed.

Took longer than I thought and refit of the forced air pipes and the black cover was bloody awful. Finished the job totally in the dark by torchlight…

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggghh. Still least I know it has been done, and no garage has been able to fob me off that the work has been carried out.

Rant over.

Pain in the nuts, particularly on sports bikes isn’t it?

Maybe there is a plus side for those that only having two cylinders?

For mine it’s:

  • Get the spark plug spanner out the toolbox
  • undo the plug
  • put new plug back

You lucky sod!
