Only kidding bud, plenty of work out there if you want it

Sorry to hear that mate.

Tuff luck mate, but if you are good at what you do, you will walk into another job:)

Good Luck

im very good at what i do ,but its not a common job and not that many companys that do it or pay good money.

im a windscreen fitter by the way but am willing to do anything really as long as it pay decent.

Sorry to hear that, it must be scary knowing no work the next day which means no money either.

very true thanks for the love people:)

I’ve been made redundant twice and although it feels bad at the time, both occasions have been the start of something new. I’ve always worked in the same field but sometimes it’s too easy to get into a rut and stagnate, a change gives you a chance to move on, both times have been very good for me.

Hope you find something soon, maybe with a car manufacturer ? Are your skill transferrable to other industries that use glass and adhesives for example ?

maybe? ive got an appointment at the job centre friday lol feels like ive just left school again:)

Well it IS tough, but you will get used to it. I suspect it will happen to more of us and more often as companies are no more loyal to their employees, than employees are loyal to their company. Used to be if you got a decent (functional) education, you went out and hired on with a good company and stayed there for 45 years or so, then retired. Not that way anymore. You can expect 5 or 6 jobs in your career, not one or two.

And just to make it worse, I think the housing Market in the US is going to spread havoc in foreign markets as well as a major recession in the US. I’d say you should plan for the longest recession since the Great Depression of the 30s, which was only overcome by the effect of WWII, getting everyone work of some kind.

Not to helpful at cheering you up am I? At least you can do all those things you’ve been meaning to do, but didn’t have time for, that is, if you still have the money.

Don’t bank on the Job Centre too much. It’s only as good as the person you deal with (variable) and the systems they use. (Not that good) Against that, they are sometimes magic.

Glass, adhesives and gasket skills are portable skills. Commonly in short supply in the (pretty shitty) English building industry, both in in new build and “home improvement”.

Look on the bright side. If your even half way competent, your hireable.

Best of luck, just be a bit flexible. Oh, and no matter what your offered, if it’s glass and glazing, you can do it so just take it. You can always find a better job later.

Oldguy.
