I bought a mesh jacket for the fairer weather at Infinity.
It was the cheapo, end of line Joe Rocket one from the sale rail.
My jacket is basically the same, although the armour is under the mesh.
Quality:
Time will tell, but it seems fine so far.
Liner:
The liner fixes to the jacket with two zips, but still allows access to the inside pockets. There are also poppers at the end of each sleeve and neck area to help secure it. It zips together separately from the jacket and has a velcro covering on it’s own zip increasing the waterproofing. The wrist fasteners don’t seem to line up correctly with their hoops in the jacket, so the liner sleeves are a little twisted.
Features:
There are 4 pockets.
Outside - one ‘hand warmer’ type on either side. These zip closed downwards.
Inside (both recessed just inside the main zip) - the left side pocket is enough for a wallet, mobile etc. The right side pocket is for visors and is really long, reaching the back. Both pockets have waterproof zip coverings.
Next to where the main zip closes at the top, there is a waterproof ‘headphones’ hole which is above the left pocket.
Soft (not rigid) impact protection armour.
Key ring holder above right inside pocket.
Back protector.
Spine pad.
6" zip.
Two poppers on each arm bringing the mesh fabric closer.
Soft, ‘neoprene like’ neck ring.
Zips, poppers and velcro fasteners at the wrists.
Velcro waistband.
Fit:
It has quite a short fitting to the waist and sits above any trousers I wear as opposed to over the waist/ belt area. The poppers help to make the arms more fitted. The chest area is a bit baggy/ ‘puffed out’ which isn’t a bad thing.
A friend commented that I looked like Iron Man when I pulled up to a pub at his birthday!
The wrists close sufficiently to get under a pair of gloves.
It feels soo much better than the leather when in the heat! It’s like there’s nothing there.
Although I don’t, for one minute, imagine that the mesh is any kind of replacement for leather.
I haven’t yet tested the waterproof liner, perhaps later in the week if you believe the weather forecasts It feels like it might get quite sweaty with the liner on TBH.
The pictures show the above features better.
edit:
I’ve just noticed that the features on the Infinity site are slightly different.
Spine pad not removable.
Armour is under the mesh.
Wrists fasten as above (not elasticated).
