Ive just heard something ridculous....

a friend of mine did his a2 last week, and unfortunatley failed it (skided on an emergency stop), to rebook the test they charged him 225 pounds:w00t:…surely this is some kind of joke? i failed my das 1st time and paid only 60 pounds to rebook it…and i was offered a days free training (god bless dave at Dg training) i know people are being charged the new test prices even though the new test hasnt kicked in yet, but even thats only 80 pounds…

is this normal? was i just given a really good deal? i think he paid about 480 ish for the course (3days) but i shall get more specific details 2moro

The guy I did my DAS course with failed first time. He just had to pay small fee, about £80, for the retest and bike hire for the day. The school also did additional free training days until you passed. Doesnt sound right to be charged that much - surely a mistake…

They’ve definitely charged him for a lot more than just the re-test. They probably have a standard retraining fee . . . but that does seem like a lot of dosh.

has he got his own bike? because then he can just book it privately

That does sound like a too much money.

That is definitely to high, I don’t think that I paid much more than that for my DAS, bike hire and test!

Sounds like he is paying for another full training session. That is grossly inflated. All he should require is a day’s refresher and the test.

I think that may be the cost of the course and rental on top, not just the test (perhaps)

I think the place I did my test with gave a guaranteed pass with the 4 day and 5 day DAS but not the 3 day and below so it may be that

Shin,

If it is just for the test he has been screwed and I would demand my money back…

howevery some places (unlike Dave at DGrider training) do not give free retraining so it maybe they have charged him for another days training.

when i failed mine i re-took it 11 days later at a cost of £180 they said £80 for the test. and the bike and instructor for the day £100.

This was last year 1/11/07 woo hoo one year on the road and ive not fell off…yet

Yup this is the same for me- £180- I was gutted it was that expensive for a morning’s bricking myself and retest. Still- however much it is was worth it to pass.I hope it stays that way Furqall!!

Shocking.

If anyone is doing there test go to Dave at DG Rider training, he’s excellent and only charges the rebooking test fee (£80.00).

I would just go to a different school… that’s what I did whne RIDE messed me about, anyhow big issue with RIDE in Mitcham, some people might still remember.

As soon as they told me it would cost £225 for a re-test I said… riiight and left. Phoned a few other companies close to me and I paid £150 for half day refresher and test. Not only that but in the morning before we set out on their ground they set up a nice obstacle course in which I was doing lots of figures of 8, 0 and U turns on the big bike as well as some emergency breaking. Was supervised for a bit then when they saw I was OK they just let me keep practicing until we headed out.

just spoke to my friend, for that 225 he getting a days training and the use of the bike on test day, but i stil reckon that really steep! thanks for all your teplies guys!

yeah could be because of the full day training… since a 4 Day DAS is about £550+ now… or more?? So they see it as a 2 day use, 1 day training 2nd day some quick training I assume and test.

Frankly I would have shopped around, saw different schools.

The use of the bike is kinda irelevant as you can’t use your own 600+ anyhow (you won’t be insured on a 600 unrestricted without a full license) so all schools will include use of their bike.

Saying that he would have saved £45… if he is that bothered about it… I would probably try and find out what the £100 - £180 gave you, he probably got a better deal for £225.

that is steep!

i gave him about 4 different company names but he doesnt seem intrested…lol, i cant wait for him to come to me with how much hes gonna pay for his first bike…:w00t:

That’s way too much. I paid about that for 2 days training and another day re-test with practise in the morning and hire of bike.
