10 years ago, my daughter snapped the neck of my guitar just below the tuning pegs. I glued it and have been using it ever since. ( by ‘using’ I mean dragging it out every time I have more than half a bottle of wine, much like the bloke in shameless who drags out his ukelele when he’s larruped.)
The thing is, I know it’s never been the same since, and it wasn’t all that to start with. You could drive a small hatchback between the strings and the fretboard.
So I’m after a replacement.
I don’t want and can’t afford/justify a brand new guitar.
I’m not sure I care what condition its in aesthetically, provided it has a nice action, straight neck, and a nice rich sound.
I know there’s a few musos on here, so if you have a martin with a nasty scratch across the face, or a semi acoustic gibson with flaking varnish, then let me know.
I think I need to get this back on track… I play it drunk, but rarely to anyone other than the long suffering Mrs Scorch.
Not worth replacing the neck tbh, I paid 120 quid for it brand new from Drum’n’strum in Worthing Sussex 20 years ago.
I used to play a lot, played with a blues band in Elgin Texas for a while, and while I was there picked up a fender acoustic at the local pawn shop for peanuts. On closer inspection the label on the back of the head read
‘drum’n’strum, worthing sussex’ Small world eh?
Ideally someone is going to tell me they have a tatty old guitar in the cupboard they don’t play anymore. Budget? about £100.00
Guitar £240. No idea on the Vox amp, out of touch with the prices. I have it in a soft case and it probably needs new strings. Just sitting doing nothing which is a crying shame. I’ve also got a classical guitar, but will keep that one for sentimental reasons.
