A PCN from Islington for this:

Personally I don’t see anything atypical for a bike filtering alongside a bus lane from that clip, what do you think?

if its a non-bike bus lane, ie red route’s is it?
then you are gonna get a fine if caught, the rider clearly goes over the white line…
i use bus lanes…whether i’m supposed to or not, but only in certain places…where i cant be caught!
Well in I am afraid, was done on just that spot on the day I picked up my bike. Islington are bstards with their cameras. Using CCTV for errant motorists and not muggers/rapists etc but hey ho
What a totally useless system. The cost involved in operating that system, paying the staff, and for what benefit exactly? To speed up the bus-routes? But hang on, there’s no buses being held up, and on top of that, there’s a bloody taxi blocking the road anyhow, so how on EARTH is it reasonable to fine someone for that?
This Judge-Dread style of summary justice is totally ineffective and only serves to raise tax-payers costs and piss off regular folk.
Why oh why do we have this bureaucracy???
I’ll look into it but it’s not really in my jurasdiction, however a little pressure in the right places, if you know what I mean.
Boris mate I’d never have voted for you if I’d realised your spelling was so atrocious.
Sorry, just back from a mayoral jolly.
Taxi’s use the lane, yes. But as Jay said, it’s all about keeping London ‘flowing’ This cab driver is clearly not. He should be the one with the fine.
Not keen on where that bike passed the cab though (squeeeeeze), perfect for door opening - tut tut.
That is just unbelievable over such a short length of bus lane.
Camden is another council that loves to zap people via CCTV.
How did this clip get into the public domain?
The index plate of the bike is in clear view at one point so there is a breach of the Freedom of Information Act. (I think more than one breach.)
Oh. Sorry. This will be o.k. because it’s “in the public interest”.
Borrocks.
Point missed, elucidate.
I’ve been caught in Haringay High Street before now via CCTV. The irony here on the A10 route into London is that most of that road is a red route and so now the bus lanes are open. But the section in Haringay is local. The bus lane sign even has “local” written across the bus symbol. And even more ironic, that section is permanently full of parked cars and delivery vans, presumably with fake registration. We really need some more joined up thinking in London with more of this stuff being done at a city wide level rather than by local councils. Same goes for parking.

Read the Data Protection Act. CCTV falls within this Act.
There is a lot on confidentiality of gathered data. (Digital images are covered.)
There are also restrictions on using data gathered for one purpose for any other purpose.
Something the DVLA make millions from ignoring.
My thoughts entirely.
As I understand it the given criteria for a bus lane violation (or the accepted norm for the councils) penalty is twenty foot clearly in the lane.
Now I don’t see how the bike in question was inside the lane for anything more than a couple of feet at points missing mirrors so why pursue the fine? (Obviously because the immediate interest in raising revenue overrides legal considerations…)
Avoiding a hazard is usually considered adequate exemption.
To me it simply looks typical of most bikes filtering along bus lanes.
I don’t understand that bit ! Twenty feet? Whats that in real money ?!!!
Can anyone pinpoint where this is?
Its off Clerkenwell Road, past St John Street and just before the Farringdon road junction…
Bloody hell, small world I was there today!
The last place in the world you’d expect them to be chasing PCN’s…
I’ve been done in exactly that spot too, pain in the ass cos there’s usually a queue of cars, taxis, etc waiting to turn right into clerkenwell green and you either got to wait for all the right turners or use part of the bus lane and just top rub it in, rarely any bloody buses.
