Intro

Hi all - am a 36 year old London rider, mostly found in either Central or NW London on an 05 Tmax mk2. I’ve been riding about 10 years, started in 96 on a Vespa ET4 to commute from Finchley to Wimbledon. A couple of ET4s and Runners later (125 and 200) I did my direct access (in 1999) and rode a Fazer 600 for a few years. Great bike, but for London the convenience and comfort of an auto was what I was after…so I got a mk1 tmax (eBay, rode it down from Sheffield) and loved it…and have been on one ever since - about 4 years now. I do somewhere between 6000-8000 miles a year, riding daily in inner London gridlock in all weather, year round…loving every single mile.

For me, the tmax is the ultimate London bike - if you’re tall it’s amazingly comfortable, it’s easily quick enough for any London/city situation (keep up with me, I dare you ), and narrow enough to weave through stationary traffic.

I’ve been recording quite a few of my rides over the past year or so using a helmetcam setup. Videos are on YouTube at : http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=56343DCDEAC1D74E

NB: I’ve had it with people giving me a bollocking for the way I ride. The videos are for enjoyment/entertainment, not to give the opportunity to analyse my riding and give me sh!t for it…(two other forums have really p!ssed me off with the holier-than-thou attitude, from sunday riders living in the countryside).

Am hoping that fellow London riders will appreciate the different challenges that riding in a congested city like London bring on a daily basis, and the skills/awareness required to handle it safely…

Anyhow, that’s me

hi there, welcome to the site. not bad vids but just not going through the traffic quick enough…as for the old bill, i didnt see no indicator…

I didn’t at the time either - that moped in front of me was obscuring his indicator, and he was driving at 20mph - so I overtook. On video replay the junction on the right hand side he was turning into was actually way up the street and I was never in any danger of him having me off (unless he had cut the corner by miles). He had a trainee with him that is to the right of camera, so I expect it was more instructional for the trainee guy rather than a bad riding. Overtaking them wasn’t that bright though…

Put a copy of the vid in the “Pics and Vids” section, then you’ll get a proper audience.

Some may criticise, some may worship, some may shrug their shoulders and go “so what?”
