Inflatable biker suit?

In the lift today at work someone asked me if I had seen a suit that was shown on 5th gear that inflated in similar fashion to an air bag, for when the rider falls off.

Has anyone seen this or heard of it?

Yes, our member Vinnie is the owner of it! He will be able to tell you more about that

I saw it on top gear tested by one of the Awol boys outside the Ace. It looks good to me, not sure about high speed abrasion but the impact
absorbsion and neck protection looks like itll do the job well. Id be tempted to buy one.

Dainese have produced one I have read about it and seen it on a television program recently, the Idea is great the main problem I remember them having was getting the jacket to recognise different situations IE. You don’t want it inflate on a busy high street during an emergency stop when your trying to avoid the child that just ran out in front of you or the BWM that just pulled out without looking.

I will try and find the article/video and post it

Not the original video or article I read but here…
Daniese Inflatable Clothing, 1

I know its still early days but in Daniese’s last video (bottom of the page) the jacket dose not look as though its helps the ride at all, maybe just keeps his neck straight, maybe

Has anyone seen this or heard of it?

Yes I have, we are the the UK distributors of the Jacket, you can find out more info at http://www.hit-airuk.com

Please exuse my limited reply this is due having not yet spoken to the owners of this site re any marketing or discounting possibilities.

Kind regards,

Vincenzo(vinniemv)

Ps. One point I would like make that this product is very Different from Dianese Product so do not confuse the two.

Vinnie the Hit-Air jacket looks good to not so sure about the coil being attached to the bike every time I get on or off its just one more thing to worry about, but then unlike Dianese sensor activated jacket I can buy yours today

Vinnie do you use a Hit-Air jacket?

Wow technology really is taking over biking!

m

'Fraid to say that the product shown on 5th Gear was not that impressive, it takes half a second to deploy (in comparrison to milliseconds for car air bags). To give the old stunt riders their due, I would not like to have to test one but falling off a bike at 4mph and then rolling over is not the same as T-Boning a SMIDNSY. Having said that lets all applaud the fact that this type of gear is now available and I am sure that the manafacturers are going to be upgrading and improving all the time. BTW, unlike car bags, this one is easily reuseable.

Do you mean one of these?

hey vinnie - spotted you on that footage with your camcorder - my flatmate was really eagled eyed and saw your MV in the background of the shot

like the idea, defo think there is some scope for more protective gear.

his fall was a bit gay but then again i’m not lining to lob myself down the road (again)

oh, there was one comment that was just flipping daft from the smug 5th gear presenter along the lines of ‘bikers like risk of death’

do we ****. if i knew i could go out on my bike everyday, have fun and not have to worry (and my family wouldn’t for that matter) then I’d enjoy it more, not less

Damn I missed it! Is it going to be repeated?

Vinnie, feel free to post up details. If you’re prepared to offer LB’ers a discount, speak to us mate! Also, is there a video online?

I back Jay up here Vinnie!

you guys can cath the 5th gerar repeat this Saturday at 11:45am

Watch it!

Would just like to point out that the jacket takes .42 of a second to deploy and as been tested in Japan where most of your motorcyces come from and the tests satisfied the Japanease police force who are now wearing them.

This to all LBers please could you look into this jacket thouroughly before making any random comments if you do you will find that the technology is sound.

As interest is high over 100,000 hits on the web site in last 24 hours I will bring a jacket to the meet at Cubana tonight and set it off in front of you and you will be able to see for yourselfs how fast it is and how well it works then you can decide for your selves if you think it is of any value.

Be There!

Best,

Vinniemv
